Instructional Designer Full Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-quality training courses using a combination of asynchronous, synchronous, and distance learning techniques
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards, compliance guidance, and client-provided course design templates
  • Design instructional specifications, including key learning objectives, length and configuration of training, and course structure
  • Design instructional material that reflects an understanding of Adult Learning Theory and of the diversity of learning styles and delivery methodologies
  • Program interactive, SCORM-and Section 508-compliant eLearning courses in software designated by client
  • Work with technical specialists and subject matter experts to:
    • Analyze needs and evaluate course design options
    • Map training content, knowledge checks, and course assessments and evaluation measures to program curriculum
    • Tailor content and activity structures to the needs of laboratory directors and other laboratory professionals
    • Craft all course documents through an iterative review and revision process
  • Revise and rewrite content as needed to ensure it addresses organization and learner needs
  • Compile and submit applications for continuing education credit (e.g., CME, P.A.C.E.®)
  • Utilize work management platforms to manage project action items, milestones, and deliverables
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Due to nature of client engagements, must either be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience developing high-quality courses using a combination of web-based training, distance-learning, and instructor-led training
  • Proficiency with Adobe Captivate
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and instructional systems designed to engage adult learners through multiple modalities
  • Experience developing training materials based on proven adult learning techniques (including ADDIE, Rapid Course Development, and Adult Learning Theory), using appropriate design, content, and technologies
  • Experience working with subject matter experts across different disciplines
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, creative problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have a passion for customer satisfaction and ability to deliver on customer’s needs and expectations
  • Knowledge of 508 accessibility and compliance
  • Ability to work onsite at client office as needed
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with federal or state public health agencies
