Instructional Designer
This position is responsible to design and/or project manage innovative and relevant educational material and learning experiences in a variety of subjects that will reach both domestic and international students. Work could also include duties that help maintain high quality learning support such as reviewing courses for accessibility and copyright, building learning experiences in the LMS, collaborating with instructors, SMEs, and other designers.

What you’ll do in this position: 
Incumbent will perform all the following in varying proportions depending on specific assignments:
  • Work with instructors or SMEs to create project map and assessment plans based on learning outcomes in compliance with online teaching and learning standards.
  • Identify and align learning outcomes for each assigned project (needs assessment).
  • Assemble content and learning activities in LMS and/or website to create a well-organized product.  
  • Provide direction to instructional design assistants, as assigned.
  • Communicate deadlines, including ongoing modifications, to student success member teams.                                                                          
  • Manage complex delivery workflows from the project outline phase to the project launch.
  • Maintain collaborative relationship with other IDs, instructors, and SMEs.
  • Identify and implement appropriate third-party learning tools.

What qualifies you for this role:
Required

  • Proficient with an LMS (Blackboard, Canvas, Learning Suite, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom, Live Remote technologies.
  • Knowledgeable of live remote instructional design teaching/learning practices.
Associate Instructional Designer (Level 52: $65,500 -$84,500)
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or closely related field
  • One or more years’ full-time direct work experience in the field of course design and production.
Instructional Designer (Level 53: $73,000 - $95,000)
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related field
  • Three or more years’ work experience in the field of course design and production.
Senior Instructional Designer (Level 54: $82,000 - $106,500)
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or closely related field
  • Seven or more years of full-time direct work experience in the field of course design and production. Or an equivalent combination of a bachelor’s degree in instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a closely related field, plus nine or more years of full-time direct work experience in the field of course design and production.

Preferred:
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficient with Articulate Storyline.
  • Familiarity with video production (Final Cut, Adobe Premier/After Effects).
  • Familiarity with workflow applications.
  • Some supervisory and project management experience.
