Overview
BRMi is seeking a Instructional Designer to plan and manage instructional design projects and initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization. Develop instructional courses tailored to meet the desired learning outcomes and needs of SMD and the learners. Collaborate to implement strategies for educating and training employees to achieve higher levels of performance. Utilize a variety of techniques to define and sequence instructional content and strategies. Create curricula by quickly and efficiently learning/processing large volumes of information and by conducting research on subject matter. Remain supportive of business unit/organizational training needs and refresh the training and materials as needed throughout its lifecycle. Work under minimal supervision.
 
**Vienna, VA, or Pensacola, FL, or Winchester, VA, M-F 8-4:30. Hybrid schedule**

Responsibilities
  • Advise and assist trainers on course evaluation results
  • Collaborate with others to plan and design courses and curricula; ensure accuracy of content and test multimedia elements
  • Conduct needs assessment on request from business unit management to provide customized training or individual guidance to improve and develop performance
  • Create dynamic instructional and training materials using current technologies including references and support tools that reinforce training, increase efficiency and help produce error-free work
  • Develop and test course content, training games, graphic designs and other technology driven products
  • Develop classroom, on-line and/or independent learning program content that transfers knowledge effectively and brings about desired behavior change
  • Develop instructional strategies and courses for a business unit and/or cross-company products and skills
  • Responsible for determining the best modality of training
  • Comfortable using feedback tools like surveys, quizzes, and post-training assessments to measure the success of training programs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy in training topics
  • Conduct presentations for various groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in instructional design, training development, or corporate learning environments
  • Familiarity with instructional design models such as ADDIE or Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation
  • Hands-on experience supporting the development of instructor-led and eLearning courses using tools like Articulate 360, Rise, or Adobe Captivate
  • Basic proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) such as Cornerstone, Moodle, or Workday Learning
  • Ability to assist with needs assessments and analyze feedback to improve training content and delivery
  • Exposure to multimedia development tools (e.g., Canva, Camtasia) to create supporting visuals and learning aids
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts and instructional designers
  • Comfortable facilitating or co-presenting small group training sessions and gathering post-session feedback
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple training projects and timelines simultaneously
  • Enthusiastic about using modern learning technologies and analytics to enhance training effectiveness
