Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience in instructional design or other related areas
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, e-Learning, or comparable degree in academic technology and design
  • Four years of experience as an instructor or course builder in one of the three leading Learning Management Systems: Blackboard Learn/Ultra, Canvas, and/or Brightspace D2L
  • Two years of experience with quality assurance in online course development using one of the following: Quality Matters Rubric, OLC Scorecard, or comparable QA assessment instrument
  • Two years of experience leading webinars using a major technology such as Zoom, WebEx, Collaborate Ultra, or comparable web conferencing system
  • Two years of experience with proctoring and troubleshooting online exam software (HESI, Honorlock, Respondus LockDown Browser, APEA, and other comparable products)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Knowledge of online course design principles and practices
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility regulations and standards, including the ability to perform accessibility evaluations and implement effective remediation techniques
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely

Responsibilities
  • Course Design and Development: Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses. Consults and supports faculty and/or staff with instructional design. Leads and oversees course design and development projects. Administers and maintains online development courses/resources. Plans and coordinates materials with course instructors, instructional design team, and multimedia team. Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications.
  • Faculty Training and Support: Leads faculty and/or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design. Plans, develops, and delivers faculty and/or staff training on instructional strategies and course design. Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
  • Departmental Support: Coordinates and provides computer-based testing technology support for faculty and students. Provides support and guidance in meeting accessibility standards for course materials and instructional content. Completes special projects related to the digital learning environment as directed.
  • Course Review and Quality Assurance: Designs online modules. Leads the course review process.
