Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled, innovative Senior Instructional Designer to design, develop, and optimize technical training programs that support field service technicians and their support teams across multiple business units. This role requires advanced expertise in instructional design, curriculum architecture, and adult learning theory, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and instructionally sound learning experiences. The ideal candidate brings a strong command of instructional strategy, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technical Trainers, and operational leaders. Experience in the oil and gas industry or other heavy industrial environments is highly preferred, given the training's technical nature and safety-critical context.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties: (Approximate % of Time Spent)
- Technical curriculum leadership: Lead the design, redesign, documentation, and modernization of existing instructor-led technical training programs, including PowerPoint decks, facilitator guides, and hands-on activities.
- Multi-modal learning development: Design and build high-quality learning materials for web-based, virtual, in-person, and onsite delivery formats.
- Training standardization and scalability: Establish templates, frameworks, and repeatable processes that ensure consistency and accelerate production across the training portfolio.
Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to:
- Partner with SMEs to analyze technical content, document processes, and translate complex concepts into structured, learner-centered training.
- Architect end-to-end course designs using ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and other industry standard methodologies.
- Develop courseware templates and design systems that support brand consistency and rapid development.
- Create assessments that measure knowledge, skill acquisition, and on-the-job performance readiness.
- Produce blended learning assets, including facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids, launch communications, and multimedia-supported content.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, instructional integrity, and alignment with business goals.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Skills and Minimum Education Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of instructional design experience, with demonstrated mastery in technical or industrial training environments.
- Advanced proficiency in instructional design models such as ADDIE, SAM, and Bloom’s Taxonomy.
- Strong visual design capability using tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional writing skills for instructional copy, scripts, and technical explanations.
- Experience with eLearning tools such as Articulate 360, Rise 360, Camtasia, and Vyond (preferred).
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Office expertise, especially in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong project management ability with proven success delivering multiple concurrent projects on time.
Minimum Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree preferred in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree required; in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of relevant experience in instructional design or technical training.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend with good balance, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms, which may include work on-site and on equipment used in Archrock’s core business.

- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
