Job Summary:
The Instructional Designer evaluates faculty course design needs. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to address faculty needs, including professional development. The incumbent articulates and models strategies that leverage best practices in teaching and learning, integrating digital tools and instructional technologies. The Instructional Designer provides leadership in faculty professional development and curricular innovation through Baptist Health Sciences University’s LMS (Canvas).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with and coaches faculty in the implementation of best practices online, blended, and face-to-face course development, instructional delivery, creation of assignments, and assessing student learning through faculty workshops, webinars, and one-on-one partnering with faculty.
  • Assists faculty in identifying and achieving individualized learning goals related to educational technology, course enhancement, and instructional excellence.
  • Develops and implements strategies that promote and sustain best practices in teaching and learning.  
  • Prepares and monitors, instructional, technical, and other reports as needed for Academic Services and the Center for Learning and Innovative Pedagogy.
  • Perform other accountabilities as required or directed.

Job Requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field
  • Two (2) years’ experience in instructional design and/or curriculum development in an educational setting
  • Experience using educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.
  • Experience with creating, facilitating, and assessing faculty professional development

Desired Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field
  • Five (5) years’ experience in instructional design and/or curriculum development in a higher education setting
  • Experience teaching in an educational/college/university setting and the ability to bridge instructional design theory with classroom application are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with designing courses using Canvas LMS and creating eLearning experiences using Articulate 360  
  • Certifications or other credentials in instructional design or related area.
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating evidence of expertise (faculty/staff workshops delivered, instructional design, curriculum development, etc.)
