UTHealth Houston’s Academic Affairs Office is looking for an Instructional Developer / Designer. This employee will partner with faculty, staff, and administrators to help design, develop, and implement high-quality online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses that support the business unit’s mission to advance excellence in education, research, and practice. This role will support both graduate and undergraduate educational programs, as well as outreach initiatives, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the learning experience across the curriculum. This person will be on-site and perform functions such as assisting medical students during exams when they have software issues. Experience with Learning Management software such as Canvas is preferred. It is also beneficial to have experience in instructional design, although it is not a requirement for this role. 

Essential Functions
•        Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and revise engaging and pedagogically sound courses and learning modules for online, hybrid, and in-person delivery. 
•        Apply instructional design theories, adult learning principles, and best practices in online education and competency-based learning.
•        Provide faculty development and one-on-one consultations focused on effective online pedagogy, assessment strategies, and accessibility.  Ensure all course materials meet accessibility standards. 
•        Develop digital learning materials, including rich media content, simulations, and interactive case studies, in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs). 
•        Support faculty in integrating educational technologies into their courses with learning management, video and audio conferencing, streaming video content, plagiarism prevention, online proctoring, course evaluation, and simulation software
•        Stay current with trends and emerging technologies in instructional design, health professions education, and E-learning. 
•        Evaluate and maintain course design templates and documentation for consistent delivery across programs.

Position Summary:
Provides instructional and program electronic-delivery development support for in-house academic courses, distance education and outreach education efforts. Works under close supervision.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  1. Developing high-quality online learning modules with advanced interactions within set deadlines
  2. Delivering critical software training sessions for faculty and staff members in groups or one-on-one settings
  3. Maintaining and ensuring accessibility compliance for the OEP website
  4. Providing technical support for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year exams, including troubleshooting the computers and any software issues.

Certification/Skills:
MS Office software.
Online course management development software.
Client/customer focus.
Good interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:
Three (3) Years of experience, preferably in online course management development software. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
