Instructional Development Manager (IDM)
Position Summary:
Good Faith Pay Range: The good-faith pay range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, skills, and other legitimate business factors.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining remote work with 2–3 days per week onsite at our Centennial, Colorado office. Candidates must be able to commute to the Centennial office on required in-office days.
The Instructional Development Manager is responsible for the design and development of new courses and revisions of existing courses to support hands-on skill-based training for industry, supporting National Technology Transfer, Inc. (NTT). For over 30 years, NTT has successfully trained over a half million skilled trades’ professionals. NTT works with Fortune 500 manufacturers as well as many states, local governments, and educational institutions.
Responsibilities include scheduling of content development, training and launch, with a strong emphasis on project management, to ensure timely availability and delivery of high quality, effective course materials. Internally, this role collaborates with key stakeholders such as executives, business development personnel, SMEs, and instructional technologists to ensure seamless integration of quality content delivered through multiple modalities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and revision of courses and learning experiences delivered through online and in-person delivery formats.
- Collaborate with instructors, subject matter experts, NTT leadership, and external partners to align course content with learning outcomes, certification standards, employer expectations, and company quality standards.
- Support the thoughtful integration of Generative AI and emerging technologies into course design, instructional strategies, learning activities, and assessment practices.
- Help develop instructional approaches and assessments that recognize the growing presence of AI tools in academic and professional environments while promoting authentic learning and client skill development.
- Evaluate and recommend AI-enhanced learning tools and instructional technologies that improve client engagement and learning effectiveness.
- Design and develop engaging instructional materials using learning management systems and digital authoring tools such as Canvas, Claude, Articulate Storyline/RISE, Adobe eLearning tools, Synthesia, and related technologies.
- Stay current with instructional design best practices, adult learning theory, educational technologies, industry certifications, and emerging trends in higher education.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to instructors and staff during course development, implementation, and transition activities.
- Analyze course feedback, learner performance data, and quality metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to ECPI/NTT development policies and procedures throughout all phases of the instructional design process.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of higher education experience, preferably supporting online, blended, or adult learning environments.
- At least three years of instructional design or curriculum development experience.
- Demonstrated success managing complex instructional projects involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- Experience incorporating educational technologies into teaching and learning environments.
- Experience developing certification-aligned curriculum or assessments is preferred.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools and their implications for instructional design, assessment, and learner engagement is highly desirable.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, assessment alignment, and learner engagement strategies.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; experience using project management tools such as Smartsheet preferred.
- Knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies, including Generative AI applications in higher education.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-production environment with rapidly evolving priorities, technologies, and timelines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent course development projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to embrace continuous change, process improvement, and emerging instructional technologies.
- Ability to design learning experiences and assessments that support authentic skill development in AI-enabled environments.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms (Canvas preferred) and digital authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline/RISE, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across academic and operational teams.
- Comfortable working in hybrid and remote environments.
