Instructional Systems Designer

The Opportunity:
As an Instructional Designer, you know that even the best tools and processes can’t have an impact without the right skills and knowledge presented in an instructionally sound way. Constructing an interactive course that teaches critical information requires a real passion for understanding the needs of your customer. We have an opportunity for an Instructional Designer who is committed to solving some of the toughest challenges by crafting effective training.

In this role, you’ll work with internal teams to capture training needs and advise them on the right learning solution to help them accomplish their goals. Putting the learner at the center of the training experience, you’ll design synchronous, asynchronous, and performance support tools following the ADDIE model. You'll also manage the division's Learning Gateway, a centralized site for all training-related materials, maintained by SMEs across the division.

You’ll use your technical skills, creativity, and experience to come up with new ideas to develop engaging and interactive learning experiences, using your experience with rapid development tools, AI, and your familiarity with producing SCORM packages and interacting with LMSs. You’ll recommend cutting-edge multimedia technologies and strategies to build a successful learning environment. You know communication is key, so you’ll meet with SMEs throughout the process to discuss learning material and integrate their feedback. To ensure your solution is hitting the mark, you’ll collect and analyze results using evaluation methodologies such as the Kirkpatrick Model then fine-tune your training for maximum impact. You’ll be able to hone your leadership skills as you share your expertise through leadership and mentoring. As a leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to build solutions and advise your customers on their learning needs. This is a chance to use your deep understanding of training methodologies to shape a creative learning experience that will engage students. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

You Have:
  • Experience with instructional strategy, instruction, or design methodologies for adult learners
  • Experience with using authoring software to create high-quality, interactive, and effective learning solutions for web-based or webinar delivery, including video and narration editing software
  • Experience with writing narration scripts and e-learning storyboards
  • Experience working with LMSs
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with contracts, pricing, or procurement processes
  • Experience performing job analysis or competency identification
  • Experience with using Camtasia or Articulate software
  • Experience with eLearning technologies, including webinar platforms, LMS, or Low-Code or No-Code platforms
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master's degree in Adult Learning or Instructional Design
  • Instructional Design, User Experience, or Human-Centered Design Certification
