Job Summary
The primary purpose of this Instructional Technologist II position is to support the Biological Sciences area’s microbiology and A&P laboratory classes by preparation, maintenance, and clean-up of equipment and supplies used in the labs. In addition, the Instructional Technologist is responsible for ordering and maintaining budget and inventory records as well as coordinating laboratory experiences to assure safety procedures are followed in compliance with federal, state, and KCTCS guidelines.

Job Duties:
Coordinates faculty and students in a science-related lab environment.

Provides individual and group instruction on lab-related programs.

Maintains supplies and sets up materials and equipment for biology, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology labs.

Coordinates and maintains laboratory computer equipment.

Recommends the purchase of lab equipment.

Operates, cleans and calibrates lab equipment/instruments as needed.

Stores, properly labels and oversees the disposal of all campus-generated hazardous materials.

Orders and maintains all laboratory supplies and reagents. Maintains SDS sheets for all laboratory reagents according to state and federal guidelines.

Serves as lab instructor supervising student performance and providing input to faculty regarding student program progress.

Serves as contact for adjunct faculty for questions concerning lab experiments; uploads lab schedules and other documentation necessary for the laboratory courses on Blackboard, when needed.

Any other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree (in Biology-related field), and two year of related lab experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree (in Biology-related field), and four years of related lab experience, or equivalent.

Experience in microbiology laboratories and/or anatomy and physiology laboratories.
