Investment Office IT Manager / Information Technologist III Full Description

Working/Functional Title
Investment Office IT Manager

Position Summary
Work within the Michigan State University (MSU) Investment Office in the areas of investment technology. This position reports directly to MSU IT and indirectly to the MSU Investment Office. The position will be located in the Hannah Administration Building in East Lansing, MI, however the role is dedicated to supporting the Investment Office Teams located on-campus in East Lansing, and off-campus in Stamford, CT. The investment team consists of the MSU investment staff headed by the CIO, investment consultants, investment advisors, and legal counsel. The MSU investment team is responsible for proactively managing the university's long-term assets of the university through the university's endowment fund. As of June 30, 2024, the fund had assets of approximately $4.4 billion and employs external investment advisors, including traditional long-only equity and fixed income managers, and alternative strategies such as hedge funds and private investments. The MSU Investment Office has offices on campus in East Lansing, MI, and Stamford, CT. This will require up to 15% travel to Stamford, CT.

This position liaises with other parts of Michigan State University, external investment managers, and external service providers. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of managing projects in a team environment and will develop a deep understanding of how technology is used to optimize investment operations.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; and five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in information technology and investment office areas related to the duties to be performed, including experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.

Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in related field; CFA and CAIA credentials; knowledge of investment financial markets and relevant technology tools, including design, implementation, and integration experience with a range of investment technologies, including research management; risk/exposure, performance, contact management, data management, investment due diligence and report design/development (e g , Blpsync, Canoe, Dynamo, Snowflake, Solovis, Bloomberg, Alboume and Northern Trust Passport, Mathematica); strong data handling skills, including: ability to manage large amounts of data; build API / data integration; strong excel skills (e g,, macros, pivot tables, charts, etc.); experience with SOL, MS Access, APls and some program language, such as Python, Java, R, are a plus; strong quantitative skills; experience and appreciation for how metrics may be used to monitor/track technology end operational effectiveness; demonstrated experience managing projects and workflows across teams, financial skills; educational and professional experience dealing with financial issues, unquestionable ethical standards, teamwork orientation
