IT Support Specialist Full Description

Job Summary
The IT Support Specialist provides advanced level security (tier 2 and 3) technology support, schedules service visits, utilizes in-person, remote access and/or web utilities for end-user configurations for Windows and Macintosh platforms. The IT Support Specialist may participate in disk image management, and deployment for select academic and administrative departments; maintain computer and system security; understand relationship between end-users needs and the overall operation of computer networks. The employee must be able to identify user needs and independently research procedures for accomplishing tasks and document findings in specialized IT environments. As a member of the Instructional Support team they will coordinate closely with the Associate Director and communicate regularly with IT administrative staff regarding services needed and suggestions for providing them.
Essential Functions
  • Provide operational support for relevant University functional users needing assistance with desktop security tools. May oversee or participate in training for new users on this system functionality.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of interrelationship among networks and systems.
  • Manages support requests and tasks to ensure goals and objectives are completed on time.
  • Proactively supports end user departments and individuals in third-tier identity and computer accounts related problems.
  • Coordinates and Supports mass mailing team and university-wide use of mass communications; provides definition of guidelines for its use and prepares or oversees documentation for end user management of their own lists.
  • Additional responsibilities include creating and/or providing test plans, software/application defect examination and definition, high level functional support, process oversight and scheduling.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in or Two-Year College equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year.
