Job Description:
NOTE: This role is based in New York City and encourages a minimum of two days per week in the SoHo office. Some roles or teams may require additional in-office attendance if the essential functions of the role require it.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Scholastic is seeking a Junior Designer to join its Trade Art Department and support day-to-day design operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the design and production of a limited number of titles per year, working closely with art department leadership.
- Route passes to Editorial and Production.
- Scan art.
- Relay notes to illustrators and designers.
- Help find illustrators that are a good manuscript and market fit for new titles.
- Pre-flight releases.
- Release files.
- Coordinate with freelance designers.
- Support with reprint edits when needed.
- Support with building schedules when needed.
- Support with coding invoices when needed.
- Support with building Launch, Sales Conference, Catalog, and Art Management presentations.
- Manage Outside purchases from end-t0-end.
- Manage the proof process on select titles.
- Respond to timely requests from Marketing and Sales.
- Attend bi-weekly production status meetings for your projects, as well as weekly staff meetings.
