WHAT YOU'LL DO:
MGT is seeking a talented Design Specialist with deep experience in educational design—particularly for K–5 instructional materials. This role blends graphic design expertise, curriculum design sensibilities, and a detail‑oriented approach to producing high‑quality instructional products.

The ideal candidate has worked as a designer for a K–5 publisher and brings hands-on experience with both digital and print design. While this is not a leadership or people‑management role, it requires someone skilled in collaborating with vendors, reviewing instructional prototypes, and ensuring all materials adhere to our design vision and instructional quality standards

Design & Template Development
  • Define expectations for and support the creation, refinement, and finalization of design templates, and prototypes for K–5 instructional materials.
  • Translate instructional intents and pedagogical principles into cohesive, teacher‑ and student‑friendly design structures.
  • Develop visual frameworks that support clarity, accessibility, and an excellent user experience for educators and students.
  • Apply strong knowledge of lesson and unit design principles to support decisions around structure, sequencing, and clarity.
  • Offer expert input on visual hierarchy, graphic design approaches, and learner‑centered design techniques.
  • Support overall improvement of instructional product quality through a design lens.

Quality Review & Production
  • Review publisher-ready drafts with precision to ensure all design outputs are error-free, consistent, and aligned with templates and standards.
  • Conduct spot check formatting and style reviews across large volumes of instructional content.

Vendor Collaboration
  • Work closely with an external vendor partner to ensure the accurate interpretation and execution of MGT’s design expectations.
  • Communicate guidance, resolve questions, and provide timely feedback on drafts and poured materials.
  • Monitor consistency and quality across multiple production batches and timelines. \

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field required.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in product or graphic design, educational design or instructional product design experience a plus.
  • Strong graphic design skills with fluency in common design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of lesson and unit design principles, ideally for grades K–5.
  • Experience designing for both digital and print formats.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, work within rapid production cycles, and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail, especially in reviewing and proofreading instructional materials.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience as a designer at a K–5 curriculum or publishing company.
  • Familiarity with designing instructional templates, student-facing materials, or teacher guides.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility considerations in educational design (optional but beneficial).
  • Experience collaborating with external production or design vendors.
