Lehigh University is hiring a Laboratory Safety & Regulatory Compliance Specialist to support its research faculty, researchers, and students by integrating Environmental Health & Safety into all phases of the research lifecycle. The specialist will conduct laboratory inspections, manage chemical safety programs, coordinate hazardous waste processes, and provide technical guidance and training to ensure regulatory compliance and safe research operations.

Deliver expert technical guidance, draft Standard Operating Procedures, and develop risk assessments for laboratory safety.
Perform laboratory inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations using risk-based methodologies.
Manage chemical inventories, laboratory cleanouts, waste minimization, and hazardous waste coordination.
Assist with emergency planning, spill response, and core compliance programs including Chemical Hygiene, Biosafety, and Radiation Safety.
Support research committees and laboratory renovations by assessing and implementing regulatory controls.
Develop and deliver specialized Environmental Health & Safety training and produce safety communications and manuals.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline required; Master's degree and professional certifications preferred.
Three to five years of experience in laboratory safety or Environmental Health & Safety, with knowledge of NIH, NSF, and OSHA lab regulations.
HAZWOPER training and a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
Salary range approximately $56,030-$68,190, based on experience and qualifications.
