Job Description

Ready to contribute to inventing ground-breaking new play experiences for LEGO fans of today and tomorrow?

This role is a key member of the System Architecture Team, within the Play Engineering group. We develop software & hardware solutions and digital platforms for complete life-cycle utilizing the newest technology with a dedicated focus on reusability and scalability in our platforms.

In this role, you will be a valued member of multi-disciplinary product development teams, acting as a technology sparring partner for your team, driving delivery of innovative technology solutions.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Research and develop new digital user experiences and connect the digital world with the physical one, and ultimately bring impactful user experiences. 
  • Work closely together with internal and external partners to enable user experiences with focus on innovating the user experience with new technology. We work with an agile mindset. You will focus on designing, building, and delivering outstanding end to end technology architecture and solutions.
  • Be a subject matter expert at the system level across both software and hardware domains and understand critical tradeoffs and technology choices
  • Set strategic direction and drive platform technology innovation for complex system design and experience, integrated with software and embedded hardware
  • Together with internal and external partners, lead development and launch of platforms and products and provide new, high quality technology solutions for outstanding user experiences.
  • Lead design, development, prototyping, of early engineering innovation exploration whilst leveraging the latest relevant technologies in the field.
  • Effectively collaborate with product teams and multiple engineering disciplines both internally and externally.
  • Manage portfolio of technology products and platforms from cradle to grave.
  • Oversee documentation of the system architecture, data attributes, and system design principles. Secure strong and consistent way of delivering quality solutions and a technology platform via agile development methodologies.
What are we looking for?

  • Willingness to work globally within a large and complicated organisation.
  • Significant hands-on engineering experience in robotics/ mechatronics, mechanical, electronics, systems, or a closely related field.
  • Solid experience in leading a development platform and/or technology development in a related field focused on e.g., mechatronics, robotics and/or consumer technologies, in collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines such as firmware, software, testing and quality.
  • Developed products from proof of concept to mass production.
  • A can-do attitude, excellent communication, and motivational skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with passion for new technologies and to drive innovation.
  • Strategic and holistic thinker with attention to details.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary (approx. 20-30 days per year).

Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of professional systems engineering practices & best practices for the full development life cycle, including standards, schematic reviews, design source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience in working with key electronics component providers and manufacturing partners.
  • Experience in working cross-functionally with internal and external partners.
