Lead Business Assistant, Account Management Full Description

Job Summary
The Lead Business Assistant will work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas performing higher level business functions to support the fiscal management process for financial units within the College of Science (COS).
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Account management, billing and cost center management, effort reporting or related functions.
  • Assist with budget process and serve as subject matter expert for specific functional areas.
  • Exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies.
  • Develop financial reports for financial planning forecasts or analyze and project data for budget reviews.
  • May functionally supervise regular, temporary, and student employees or back up the business manager as appropriate.

Required:
Education and Experience: 
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Four years of account management, business management, or bookkeeping experience.
 
Skills Needed:
  • Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative, solve complex problems, assume responsibility, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be creative, thorough, professional, and willing to serve as a departmental leader. 
  • Able to handle interruptions, balance multiple and varied tasks, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and accountability.
  • Highly proficient with computer and common business software (especially Microsoft Office products) with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
  • Must possess a learning orientation toward changing technology impacting business processes.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, analyze and interpret information, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to work independently with limited daily supervision.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable.
 
What is Helpful:
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience utilizing SuccessFactors, SAP, Concur, Ariba, and Cognos.
  • University business office experience.
 
Additional Information:
  • This is a fully remote position that requires ability to occasionally travel to the West Lafayette campus for meetings with faculty and staff as well as for training.
