Lead Instructional Designer of Artificial Intelligence Full Description

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: 
Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a fulltime, onsite Lead Instructional Designer of Artificial Intelligence in the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) department. The Lead Instructional Designer of Artificial Intelligence leads complex curriculum development projects around AI in Education.  They collaborate with CELT staff and others across campus to lead the development and delivery of programming which assists individuals, departments, and other groups of faculties with course and learning activity design and development. The pay for this position is between $63,300.00 - 68,250.00 annually. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Research the pedagogical application of existing and emerging AI tools.
  • Research AI-related industry knowledge and skill needs of graduates (particularly in the NE Indiana region).
  • Lead partnerships with and coaching of faculty and academic programs to implement pedagogical changes in response to those identified needs. 
  • Lead the development and delivery of AI-focused teaching resources, workshops, certificates, and cohort/grant programs related to (re)designing courses, activities, assessments, assignments, etc. with AI in mind, to improve student learning.
  • Through consultation and workshops, assist faculty, broadly, with course design, course development, learning objectives, classroom management, active learning, assessment methods, educational technologies, and other topics related to university teaching.
  • Serve as a PFW representative on Purdue System Educational Technology-related teams, pilots, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Curriculum and Instruction, Design & Technology, or related field. *Consideration of a Bachelor’s Degree with significant experience in consulting with higher education faculty and the ability to create instructional materials using authoring tools and standard multimedia applications*
  • 4 years of experience working in higher education with faculty.
  • Experience consulting with faculty about AI, teaching strategies, course design and development, and assessment.
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and practice, learning theories, best teaching practices, and best practices in consulting.
  • Knowledge of and skills in pedagogical applications of a variety of AI tools.
  • Fluency with one or more course management systems, such as Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, or others.
  • Ability to create instructional materials using authoring tools and standard multimedia applications. Excellent interpersonal, team, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment.
