Job Summary/Basic Function | Learning Assistant’s are only offered in specific classes and typically require a faculty recommendation.
Learning Assistants support students by
—attending the course in which they are embedded;
—functioning as a mentor, coach, and tutor to students in the course;
—holding review sessions and/or tutoring hours outside class to help students retain course material, including coaching students on study strategies; and
—attending training sessions as mandated by the Learning Assistant supervisor.
Required Qualifications | — Must have taken a class that we offer Learning Assistant’s for and gotten a B or better (If you have taken a class equivalent to one we hire for, or taken higher level classes in that subject, you may also be considered). — Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be reliable and confident in subject area.
— Must have some flexibility in schedule.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. | Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
