Role Summary
American Century Investments is looking for a Learning Consultant and Instructional Designer to work in Kansas City. The designer will create engaging and effective live instructor led, e-Learns and micro-learns courses, learner guides and training manuals, and develop visual, audio and interactive learning assets. The role involves coordinating and leading development meetings with stakeholders and subject matter specialists, guiding them through the course development process, meeting milestones and deadlines and ensuring that our training program drives measurable results.
The Learning Consultant also develops and engages with learning strategies for corporate-wide initiatives in support of our company’s Winning Behaviors values. The role also optimizes training programs by ensuring the curriculum remains relevant, progressive and engaging by staying current in learning and development trends that reach across all levels of employees and delivery methods.
This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, MO office.

How You Will Make an Impact
- Conduct Needs Assessments and Define Business Outcomes
- Design and Develop Engaging E-learning and Instructor-led content by implementing strategies to keep learners engaged and motivated throughout the learning experience.
- Apply Learning Expertise using industry standard methodologies and adult learning principles
- Perform content research to gather and curate educational content relevant to learning objectives and business outcomes
- Shape the learning experience by providing recommendations on design specifications, storyboards, and interactive simulations to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.
- Assessment Design by developing evaluation tools like quizzes, assignments and exams to measure learning outcomes.
- Create Learning Analytics by using data analytics tools to evaluate the effectiveness of courses and learning modules.
- Collaborate and iterate by facilitating both formal and informal reviews of content with subject matter specialists and other relevant team members to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Execute Project Management by creating and overseeing the project timeline, resources and team members involved in the course development.
- Facilitate instructor-led courses and workshops and train-the-trainers where subject matter specialists are used to deliver training.

What You Bring to the Team (Required)
- Masters in Instructional Design or Technologies
- Articulate 360 experience, Articulate storyline and Articulate Rise experience
- Experience with using consultative skills to help leaders identify training/development needs
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills—written, verbal, presentation/training delivery and facilitation
- Strong influencing and relationship building skills
- Project management—ability to balance multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
- 6-10 years of experience in instructional design, eLearn development and curriculum development
- Proven success working with senior business leaders
- Designing and completing learning strategy— e-Learn, ILT, micro learns, videos
- Leading learning and development projects

- Experience with Vyond AI Video Creation
- Text and transcript generation
- Workday Learning Management System knowledge and experience
