In this position ...
As a Learning Designer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing comprehensive learning strategies and curriculum development plans that support the growth and development of personnel in the automotive industry. You will combine the fields of design (interaction, user experience, graphic, and game) with the elements of education, instructional design, and experiential learning to create engaging and effective learning experiences. Your expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and learning strategies will contribute to the design and delivery of training programs aligned with business objectives and industry-specific requirements. Responsibilities
What you will do ...
  • Learning Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business objectives, performance goals, and workforce development needs in the automotive manufacturing and EV sectors 
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of learning requirements, job roles, and skill gaps to develop comprehensive learning strategies and frameworks 
    • Design and implement strategic plans for training programs, career development pathways, competency frameworks, and performance improvement initiatives 
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in instructional design and learning strategies to inform strategy development 
  • Curriculum Design and Development:
    • Lead the design and development of instructional curricula and learning materials tailored to the needs of automotive manufacturing and EV manufacturing 
    • Conduct thorough needs assessments, task analyses, and learner profiling to inform curriculum design decisions 
    • Create engaging and interactive instructional materials, including instructor-led training (ILT), e-learning modules, videos, microlearning resources, assessments, and job aids 
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and alignment of instructional content with industry standards and organizational goals 
    • Design and maintain end-to-end learning experiences, including marketing, and managing communications and engagement activities while ensuring successful implementation on budget by targeted delivery dates 
    • Modify existing materials and courses as needed 
    • Gather needed images and videos through a combination of on-site visits, company stock assets, and judicious use of A.I. image generation
  • Learning Program Management:
    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to established quality standards 
    • Monitor and analyze learner feedback, performance data, and evaluation results to continuously improve learning programs and enhance learner outcomes 
    • Conduct periodic reviews of curriculum and make updates based on changes in automotive manufacturing processes, EV technologies, and industry regulations 
    • Lead and manage learning data dashboard to prioritize team and learner efforts  
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, instructional designers, multimedia specialists, and trainers, to develop and implement learning solutions 
    • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and external partners to ensure alignment of learning strategies with organizational objectives 
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting learning strategies, progress updates, and evaluation findings to gain support and drive continuous improvement 
    • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing insights and recommendations for learning and development initiatives 
  • Professional Development and Innovation:
    • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in instructional design, learning theories, and adult learning principles 
    • Explore innovative approaches to learning, including gamification, immersive technologies, and social learning, and propose their integration into training programs 
    • Prioritize retention of manufacturing knowledge to accumulate expertise and gain perspective on the business we support
    • Exhibit behaviors consistent with manufacturing and lean culture, such as “go and see” activities and delivering support when needed in our manufacturing facilities
    • Mentor and coach junior instructional designers, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster their professional growth 
    • Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and communities of practice to expand skills and contribute to the advancement of the field 
    • Drive a learning mindset with cohort-based, peer-to-peer and social learning and community-based interactions 

Qualifications
You'll have ..
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning and Development, or a related field 
  • Significant experience in instructional systems design, curriculum development, and learning strategy implementation
  • Strong expertise in instructional design models, learning theories, and adult learning principles 
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools, multimedia software, instructional technologies and learning management systems (LMS) 
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing comprehensive learning strategies, competency frameworks, and career development programs 
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and propose data-driven solutions 
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at various organizational levels 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, capable of designing and delivering compelling, professional presentations that translate complex information into clear, concise, and visually engaging slides.  
  • Strong analysis and design skills with an emphasis on future-focused learning experiences 
  • Ability to think strategically, conduct needs assessments, and translate business performance gaps into learning and development strategies 
  • Ability to analyze and align learning and development metrics to business drivers and outcomes that make a difference in terms of organizational success 
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technology, tools, and methods 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment using strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Learning and Development, or a related field 
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, assembly line operations, and electric vehicle technologies is highly desirable (Source: Manufacturing Job Description).
  • Leadership qualities 
  • Passion for continuous learning, innovation, and staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies 
  • Familiarity with modern Learning Experience Platforms (LXP) such as Degreed 
  • Content curation, learning pathway design and curation experience 
  • Experience with video scripting, recording, editing, and producing. Examples include videos developed using Camtasia, Premiere, Synthesia or After Effects software 
  • Experience in web and graphic design tools. Examples include applications developed using Adobe Creative Cloud software 
  • Experience with Web-based course development tools. Examples include Articulate Storyline and Captivate

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $72,480-$121,440.
This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-$141,360.
