The Learning & Development Specialist facilitates trauma-informed learning experiences in both virtual and in-person settings, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and relevant for a diverse staff population. As a key member of the L&D team, the Specialist develops instructional materials, coordinates training logistics, and serves as a communication liaison for staff inquiries. This role also supports data collection and record-keeping, contributes to continuous improvement efforts, and helps maintain Brightpoint’s status as an approved Illinois Social Work Continuing Education Sponsor.

What you'll do:
  • Facilitate engaging, trauma-informed learning experiences in primarily virtual and some in-person formats.
  • Develop and maintain instructional materials and toolkits that support knowledge transfer and skill-building and align with organizational values and initiatives.
  • Ensure training materials are current, accessible, and inclusive for a diverse staff.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for training sessions, including registration, attendance, and post-course follow-up.
  • Monitor and respond to L&D-related inquiries, escalating as needed.
  • Track participation data and generate reports to inform strategy and increase engagement.
  • Coordinate logistics for in-person trainings, including space, supplies, and catering.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance learner experience and outcomes.
  • Promote learning opportunities and CEU offerings to maximize staff engagement.
  • Maintain compliance with Illinois Social Work Continuing Education Sponsor requirements.

Candidate qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services or related field required.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit and/or participant-centered organization required.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating in-person and/or virtual learning opportunities required.
  • Experience in support or administration of a learning management system or HR information system preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in participatory and creative facilitation techniques to guide conversations in virtual, in-person, and hybrid groups, prioritizing accessibility and engagement. 
  • Ability to maintain inclusive, equitable, brave facilitated spaces.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences in a variety of settings.
  • Consistently demonstrates a team orientation, as well as a proactive, positive, engaged and helpful attitude.
  • Demonstrates initiative, consistent follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates respect and acceptance of diverse individuals and communities served by, working in partnership with, or employed by Brightpoint including but not limited to age, race, religious belief, gender, ethnicity, social-economic status, and LGBTQIA+ populations.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing in the English language; ability to communicate proficiently in Spanish a plus.
  • Availability to work from the downtown Chicago office approximately once per week and to travel to various program sites across Illinois as needed (approx. 20% of the time) required.
  • Must have access to transit or other reliable transportation to execute the position’s responsibilities.

Job details:
  • Compensation: Hourly Range $24.04-$26.44/hour; offers are commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.
