Description

The Learning & Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in fostering the professional development of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff by expertly designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive training programs. This position requires a balanced proficiency in both information technology and essential soft skills, ensuring that personnel are equipped to utilize advanced software tools while excelling in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, and time management.
 
Our ideal candidate will have 2+ years of learning and development experience utilizing learning management systems, preferably in a legal environment.
 
Where You'll Work
The Learning & Development Specialist is an exempt position and will work hybrid from one of the following offices: Charlotte, North Carolina; Toledo, Ohio; or Columbus, Ohio.
 
What You'll Do
  • Develop and coordinate new hire and software training for all staff, ensuring attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel are proficient.
  • Design and deliver a variety of training methods, including e-learning, workshops, and in person training.
  • Create training sessions that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Facilitate and develop training on essential soft skills such as behavioral and cognitive assessments, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, and time management to promote overall professional growth.
  • Conduct training sessions for all personnel either onsite, remotely, or by travelling to other offices. (Travel up to 15% of the time.)
  • Assist with Help Desk support for users with general software and hardware questions and problems.
  • Collaborate with firm leaders and other personnel to identify and assess individual and firmwide training needs.
  • Promote firmwide initiatives related to talent development, engagement, and retention.
  • Utilize surveys, focus groups, and analytics to refine training based on user feedback and needs.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Legal Studies, Instructional Design, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in learning and development preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a legal environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams required.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of utilizing various training methodologies to engage learners.
  • Ability to train individuals or large groups of professionals and staff.
  • Approach training needs with creativity, understanding, and professionalism.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Sitting frequently, approximately six out of eight hours per day. Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time.
