The Learning Experience Designer will be an integral member of the team that will help drive the vision of future Education team content.

Robolink is a San Diego-based edtech company founded in 2012 that makes robotics kits for education. We believe in the power of learning through collaboration and working towards a common goal in a competition setting. Our latest product is a drone meant to be used in the classroom and at competitions in the education space. We are leading the way in drone education by working with our partners in building the largest educational drone competition in the K-12 space.

Robolink is a San Diego-based edtech company that’s leading the charge for drones meant for the education space and for K-12 drone competitions. Our mission is to make STEM engaging and accessible through building tools for hands-on learning and equipping teachers with the resources to teach with these tools. Our flagship product, the CoDrone EDU, is the official drone used in the Aerial Drone Competition, the largest drone competition in K-12.

Summary:
We are looking to grow our Education team by adding a motivated and experienced Learning Experience Designer. As we continue to build our learning platform, Robolink Learn, we likewise need to build capacity for creating educational content. The Learning Experience Designer will be an integral member of the team that will help drive the vision of future Education team content. They will be responsible for executing a variety of projects including designing, developing, and testing student and teacher facing resources, curriculum, activities, demos, and instructional videos. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that any other educational content aligns with Robolink’s model for learning. The role will report to the Director of Education and may be responsible for supervising future team members as the Education team grows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and test curriculum/content according to a scope and sequence and educational pedagogy.
  • Create engaging student centered activities.
  • Develop assessments for gauging knowledge acquisition.
  • Review and edit education content created by other team members and teams outside EDU.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with SMEs and cross departmental teams.
  • Outline, script, storyboard, and record educational video content.
  • Create, implement, and assess learning objectives.
  • Produce accompanying curricular resources (slide decks, lesson plans, curriculum guides, student work books, rubrics, standards alignment, etc.).
  • Write content to fit an already established voice.
  • Travel to tradeshows, company headquarters, or testing sites.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • 5-10+ years of experience designing educational content and curriculum.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to receive and apply feedback.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to educators and students.
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge of grades 5-12 STEM and computer science education.
  • Experience creating educational content for STEM tools, specifically in robotics or physical computing systems.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design techniques and strategy.
  • Some experience teaching, working, and managing in a STEM classroom setting.
  • Experience designing content outside of the classroom but for education purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating content & teaching block based and Python programming languages.
  • A strong understanding of common education pedagogy and learning theories.
  • Must be comfortable in front of a camera for instructional videos.
  • Experience working with SMEs.
  • Experience designing and developing assessments to gauge knowledge acquisition.
  • An understanding of AI Literacy.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Excel, Calendly, Notion, Canva, Zoom.
  • Experience with feedback cycles of review and iteration design.
  • Has executed user testing and data collection to improve content.
  • Ability to align curriculum to state and national standards.
  • Experience using virtual video studio tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a single time.
  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways.
  • Has created content centered on UDL and accessibility principles.
  • Experience managing other content designers.
  • Strong preference for candidates located within Greater San Diego, Chicagoland, New York state, or Texas.
