The Learning Systems & Design Specialist plays a dual role in shaping the Associate experience at Dierbergs: serving as the administrator and subject matter expert for our Learning Management System (Axonify) while also partnering with a portfolio of departments to design, develop and deliver impactful learning programs.
This role establishes and upholds system standards, optimizes the learner experience, and ensures content is accurate, well-organized, and deployed in the most learner-friendly way. At the same time, they collaborate with stakeholders and Associates across assigned departments to create engaging, practical and results-driven training experiences. By blending technical expertise in learning systems with creativity in instructional design, this role helps advance our company purpose of Grow Every Day.
Key responsibilities:
LMS Leadership & Optimization:
- Serve as the administrator and subject matter expert for Axonify, ensuring we are leveraging the system to its fullest potential
- Manage the configuration, organization, accessibility and accuracy of all training content, resources and learning libraries
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate deployment of learning content in the most user-friendly manner
- Establish standards and best practices for LMS content management, including naming conventions, structure, formatting, accessibility, version control, auditing and archiving etc.
- Monitor LMS analytics and reporting to assess engagement, compliance, and training effectiveness and provide actionable insights to stakeholders
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the learner experience within the LMS through structure, navigation and system features
- Provide front line support for users (password resets, access issues, troubleshooting) and escalating technical problems when needed
Department Portfolio & Learning Design:
- Oversee a small portfolio of departments by partnering with subject matter experts, stakeholders and corporate and store Associates to assess training needs and align learning solutions with department goals and objectives
- Manage projects through the design life cycle from scoping, research and analysis, design, development and launch, providing clear timelines through all phases of development and selecting appropriate measurement for implementation
- Design and develop onboarding and ongoing training programs for Associates incorporating self-paced, on-the-job, and classroom training
- Build and manage a range of instructional materials (e-Learning, job aides, tutorials, storyboards, audio and video materials, knowledge checks etc.)
- Ensure every learning experience is aligned with best practices in adult learning theory, and that experiences are relevant, practical and learner-centered
- Create engaging and effective learning solutions for in-person and virtual delivery using platforms such as Vyond, Articulate 360, Canva, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions, as well as coach facilitators on best practices to ensure high levels of participant engagement and retention
- Implement methods to measure the effectiveness of learning programs (e.g., surveys, assessments, and performance data) and use insights to continuously improve learning materials and delivery methods
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Psychology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, LMS administration or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with LMS administration, including managing users, organizing content, generating reports and optimizing learner experience (experience with Axonify is a plus)
- Proficiency in eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Vyond, Camtasia) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Experience in facilitating trainings (virtually/in-person)
- Has a knack for project management, is able to move projects forward despite ambiguity, and can effectively prioritize activities with little direction and in a fast-paced organization
- Strong attention to detail and ability to establish and uphold system standards with precision and consistency
- Proven ability to measure training programs through evaluations and appropriate data
- Embodies a growth-mindset and has ability to be flexible and resilient in an ever-changing and dynamic environment
- Strong instructional design skills, including creating interactive, learner-centered content.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
