Learning & User Experience Specialist

Boston Office; New York Office

Foley Hoag is seeking an IT Learning & User Experience Specialist to help shape how our employees engage with technology across the firm. This role sits at the intersection of training, user experience, and digital content creation—focused on making complex systems intuitive, accessible, and easy to adopt. 

You will partner closely with IT, support teams, and end users to design and deliver impactful learning experiences that drive adoption, improve efficiency, and enhance overall satisfaction with the firm’s technology ecosystem. This includes creating innovative, interactive e-learning content and leveraging modern microlearning strategies to meet users where they are. 

This hybrid role requires in-office presence in our Boston or New York office at least three days per week to foster collaboration and connection. Onsite expectations and specific days may evolve depending on team and business needs.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging training programs across the firm’s technology platforms, including Microsoft 365, iManage, and other business-critical systems. 
  • Create modern learning assets such as interactive e-learning modules, short-form microlearning videos (2–4 minutes), job aids, and on-demand learning collections. 
  • Lead new hire onboarding training for attorneys and staff, ensuring a strong foundation in firm technology tools and workflows. 
  • Develop clear, concise, and visually engaging communications including tips, quick guides, and best practices to support continuous learning. 
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to align training strategies with business goals and technology initiatives. 
  • Maintain and continuously improve training materials, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and usability. 
  • Provide one-on-one, small group, and classroom-style training sessions as needed. 
  • Support the Service Desk by identifying knowledge gaps and delivering targeted training or resources. 
  • Contribute to security awareness by educating users on policies, procedures, and best practices. 
  • Prepare training environments and materials to ensure a seamless learning experience. 
  • Assist with software testing and user acceptance efforts by working with IT teams and focus groups. 
  • Identify training needs and design training materials to meet the improve user experience working closely with the Training Manager and IT Operations Director.  
  • Advocate for the end-user experience by participating in all phases of technology initiatives (planning, design, testing, rollout, and post-launch support). 
  • Analyze support desk tickets, user feedback, and usage trends to identify gaps and continuously improve training and support strategies. 

Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2+ years of experience delivering technology training in a professional environment; experience within a law firm or professional services organization is strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience creating digital learning content, including interactive e-learning and microlearning assets. 
  • Strong background in content creation, with a focus on clarity, usability, and attention to detail. 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with document management systems such as iManage or NetDocuments. 
  • Familiarity with instructional design and e-learning tools such as Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar platforms. 
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate feedback and data into actionable improvements. 
  • Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with attorneys, staff, and stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently. 
  • Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. 

Compensation range is $88,200 to $110,300 commensurate with related experience and qualification. The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the firm's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
