Position Overview:
The Legislative Information Specialist monitors, analyzes, and communicates legislative and regulatory developments impacting the healthcare education and training landscape. This role ensures timely and accurate integration of legal and compliance changes into healthcare learning content, products, and strategic planning. It requires a blend of legal/regulatory research skills and a deep understanding of the healthcare education environment.
What You'll Do:
- Track and interpret state and federal legislative and regulatory activity related to healthcare practice, licensure, and continuing education.
- Accurately update bills and proposed rule movement in the platform.
- Monitor Board of Pharmacy websites for newly published agendas, minutes, and newsletter.
- Format and compare updated statutory and regulatory language when adding to the system.
- Perform quality functions to ensure accuracy of statutes, regulations, sub‐regulations and Executive Orders added to the system.
- Maintain workflow in a timely manner that meets client expectations and contributes to team efficiencies.
- Contribute to yearly projects and continuous quality improvement.
- Summarize and communicate key legislative trends, policy updates, and regulatory changes to internal stakeholders including content development, compliance, and product teams.
- Work cross-functionally to translate legal/regulatory changes into actionable insights and product updates.
- Collaborate with content developers to update educational material to reflect regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Maintain a centralized database of healthcare legislative and regulatory changes by state/jurisdiction and profession.
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports on relevant legislative activity affecting healthcare professionals, students, and educational institutions.
- Develop relationships with professional boards, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to stay informed on evolving standards and requirements.
- Provide subject matter expertise for audits, accreditations, and state board approvals as needed.
- Support thought leadership and advocacy efforts by contributing legislative insights and white papers when requested.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Associates degree in Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, Legal Studies, or related field; Bachelors preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in legislative/regulatory tracking, preferably in healthcare, education, or a compliance-oriented role.
- Experience working in a healthcare learning company, regulatory agency, or state licensing board is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legislative language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into plain language.
- Basic understanding of legislative and regulatory processes for assigned jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in tools like State Net, LexisNexis, or other legal/regulatory tracking software as well as Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of healthcare professional licensure and continuing education requirements is a strong plus.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Familiarity with the continuing education requirements of healthcare professions such as nursing, pharmacy, or allied health.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory landscape.
