ROLE TITLE: Manager, Accelerate - Professional Development
POSITION REPORTS TO: Managing Director, Accelerate - Professional Development

WHAT YOU'LL DO 
We are looking for an innovative team player who is passionate about developing and retaining early career teachers. The ideal candidate is committed to teacher development and will live out the belief that, even in the first few years in the classroom, teachers have the ability to transform the lives and education of students. You will work alongside a 13 person team serving over 250 classrooms in Pre-K centers and K-12 public schools across Missouri and satellite regions nationwide. You will work in partnership with school administration and community partners at multiple sites to develop a scope and sequence for development across the year for early career teachers and their school-based mentors, prioritizing both group development and community building to contribute to culture and retention. The goals for this role include three programmatic outcomes centered on teacher retention and satisfaction, as well as administrator and partner satisfaction measures.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 
  • Design, adjust, and edit professional development sessions for Accelerate participants and partner-identified cohorts of teachers - 25%
    • Create, edit, and provide feedback around group development sessions, according to scope and sequence for both the K-12 and Pre-K teams
    • Collect, analyze, share, and respond to data regarding the effectiveness of whole-group sessions
    • Develop materials and facilitation plans for ongoing professional development throughout the year
  • Support the creation of asynchronous professional development modules - 25%
    • Design, edit, and provide feedback around asynchronous development sessions, according to scope and sequence for both the K-12 and Pre-K teams
    • Engage in professional development to increase proficiency in the use of a Learning Management System
    • Develop materials ongoing asynchronous professional development throughout the year
  • Facilitate sessions, both in-person and virtual, independently and alongside Accelerate coaches and the Managing Director, Accelerate - Professional Development - 25%
    • Collect, analyze, share, and respond to data regarding the effectiveness of facilitation across the Accelerate team in collaboration with the Managing Director, Accelerate - Professional Development
    • Share regular updates on participant satisfaction with the Managing Director, Accelerate - Professional Development to help inform the direction of programming
 
  • Work in close collaboration with the Accelerate team to build contextual expertise, engage in learning and development, and sustain strong relationships with colleagues - 10%
    • Attend regular Accelerate team meetings and 1:1s with the Accelerate leadership team
    • Engage in collaboration and consultancy with colleagues on the Accelerate team
  • Fulfill regional priorities and strategic initiatives - 15%
    • Participate in all enterprise and regional staff events and responsibilities, including selection of incoming corps members, regional Practicum support in partner regions, and other key priorities

A WEEK IN THE LIFE 
Your week might include creating or refining whole-group development sessions, internalizing and facilitating group development at partner sites, attending team meetings and shared field time, and managing your calendar to observe, co-facilitate or lead group development during the school day and outside of school hours. You'll work closely with the Accelerate team to draft and refine programmatic materials for use, engage in skill development and practice, and support session internalization. Across the week, you'll meet regularly with the Managing Director, Accelerate - Professional Development for check-in conversations, feedback cycles, and materials development, and manage your calendar to ensure consistency with partner scheduling requests and requirements.
 
YOUR EXPERIENCE 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
  • 3 - 5 years teaching or instructional coaching experience 
  • Strong track record of student achievement teaching in a K-12 classroom
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Teach for America - Kansas City office location
  • Ability to travel out-of-region occasionally for satellite regional programming
  • Experience leading adults and facilitating professional development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working directly with new and early career teachers
  • Proficiency in development of a Scope and Sequence to target a particular learning goal
  • Work demands:
    • Evening and weekend work required across the year
    • Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds

YOUR COMPENSATION 
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
