JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

  • Works as a positive team member of a project that may consist of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Information Architects, Data Analysts, and/or Database Administrators to deliver quality applications and components within scope, on time, within budget, and ensures compliance.
  • Manages workload effectively and report status of tasks in a timely manner.
  • Is able to guide stakeholders on solutions and support structure.
  • Ensures proper governance of prioritizing work from partners.
  • Forms tactical strategies to support initiatives across the team and University.
  • Leads and proactively identifies emerging technologies; develops proof-of-concepts, and promotes the usage of these emerging technologies.
  • Leads highly complex technical teams. Follows standard operational procedures and HIPAA regulations.
  • Mentors other analysts on regulation adherence.
  • Develops/modifies standard operating procedures.
  • Engages with compliance and IRB for guidance when necessary.
  • Develops strategies for managing complex data sets through maintaining data standards and metadata.
  • Generates standard templates for architecture documentation related to current and proposed informatic solutions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Technical Experience and Background:
  • Experience with cloud data warehouse platforms (Snowflake preferred) and workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow or equivalent)
  • Experience with data transformation frameworks (dbt or similar) and modern data engineering practices
  • Experience designing and implementing role-based access control (RBAC) systems in multi-user research or healthcare environments
  • Experience working with healthcare data standards (OMOP, FHIR, or HL7) and electronic health record systems (Epic preferred)
  • Experience with both hands-on technical implementation and team leadership or mentoring
  • Familiarity with multimodal research data including imaging, genomics, and clinical data integration
  • Experience designing data pipelines for research object ingest, metadata tagging, and controlled data sharing workflows
  • Familiarity with research data management practices, IRB requirements, and HIPAA compliance in academic settings
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Ability to balance strategic architectural decisions with hands-on implementation
  • Strong stakeholder management skills working with researchers and technical partners
  • Ability to establish data quality standards, governance frameworks, and best practices
  • Experience managing competing priorities and high volumes of complex data requests

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and seven years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
