Job Description
The Manager of Educational Consulting leads a regional team of Education Consultants, ensuring the delivery of impactful, paid professional learning aligned to Savvas Learning Services' goals. This role blends leadership, coaching, and collaboration and partnering with district leaders and internal teams to drive implementation success across our core, intervention, and assessment solutions. The EC Manager also plays a strategic role in supporting regional sales efforts, managing team performance, and aligning services to school and district priorities. Candidates must live in the assigned region and bring a growth mindset, strong instructional expertise, and proven experience leading people and partnerships.
 
Must be located in the Midwest or Mid-Atlantic region.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for hiring, managing, and developing Supervisors and Consultants who report to the EC Manager.
  • Analyze data from finance, resource deployment, and sales pipeline to understand current and forecasted staffing needs; utilize data to inform hiring needs and cross-training of existing staff.
  • Maximize the utilization of full-time staff by collaborating with resource deployment in assigning long-term, multi-day projects; monitor assignments of part-time staff in support of full-time utilization.
  • Identify, communicate, and prioritize training needs to the VP and Internal Training Team. Identify and assign internal training for all Consultants, keeping in mind skill set, market needs, geography, and FT/PT utilization.  Collaborate with internal training program manager(s) to ensure timely completion of product certifications. 
  • Assist in developing and delivering training outside of Product Certification, such as timecard and expense entry, Outcomes Insight Tool, and other technology/business tools as needed.
  • Communicate with market sales leaders and Curriculum Specialist manager/supervisor to understand sales market activity—adoptions, RFPs, campaigns, and pilots that may translate into professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to RFP and services proposal language in the areas of professional development.
  • Collaborate with sales on key pilot implementations where delivery support includes professional development and/or job-embedded services. 
  • Act as a key stakeholder in the development of Customer Blueprint for large implementations; facilitate customer conversations in identifying outcomes for their unique needs.  Assist education Consultants in articulating outcomes, milestones, and PD plans through Blueprints and Insight Reports.  Promote customer access to Outcomes Insight Tool.
  • Manage professional development events in the region by supporting assigned Education Consultants, or acting as a point person for large, complex engagements.  This includes assisting in the assignment of multiple Consultants, facilitating customer communications, conducting internal team calls in preparation for the event, and providing onsite support on the day(s) of the event. 
  • Identify, communicate, and prioritize materials/resource development needs to the Service Solutions Development team and help to manage development outside of the scope and budget of the Development team.
  • Collaborate with the National Projects Manager to assign Lead EC’s to represent the PD team on program and materials development.
  • Collaborate with the VP and EC Leadership team to successfully execute Company goals around budget and billable/utilization goals.  Lead direct team to compliance with Company policies and guidelines.
 
General Tasks and Actions:
  • Participate in district partnership meetings to determine professional learning needs and opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal partners on any complex/strategic Tier 1 partnerships in the region
  • Collaborate with National Resource Manager to identify multi-consultant events and identify EC support needs 
  • Can serve as a key member of the feedback loop to share information from partners and ECs back up to the key leaders of Savvas team leads (product, development, training). Feedback can include information around product needs, competitive information, issues and trends for content areas, etc.
  • May attend higher level meetings from a variety of internal business groups at Savvas to provide input or learn more about general processes.
  • Act as a strong partner advocate to support successful and impactful events
  • Embraces difficult and sometimes complex situations, to ensure internal and external partner satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the PADL and Account Managers for key accounts
 
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 
  • Bachelor required; Master’s Degrees preferred
  • Two years of proven leadership experience including people management required
  • Six years of experience in education required
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the Educational Services industry as applies to customer-facing teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with entry-level through executive-level internal and external customers. Must also have skills that inspire collaboration among all levels of team members.
  • Proactive, results-oriented self-starter. Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of services and business goals. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Interpersonal skills meet expectations; active listening skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence.

  • An ability to diagnose common customer needs and issues, and to translate those needs into actionable solutions.

  • A high level of organization, be self-directed and process-oriented with the ability to monitor and recommend variances to actions to enhance project outcomes within multiple projects simultaneously.

Travel Requirements
  • Must be able to travel 70% of the time, as there is a need for internal or customer-facing travel.
  • This position requires candidates to have a reliable method of transportation to perform their job duties.
