Position Summary
The Manager of Learning and Development plans, develops, and implements leadership development programs and processes, ensuring alignment with organizational values and strategic goals. This role leads a team of leadership facilitators who deliver learning and development activities that prepare leaders and professionals to improve individual and team performance. The Manager is responsible for all leadership development solutions to meet the changing demands of the healthcare industry, grow Children's Health's national reputation as a top pediatric provider, and support the organization's growth strategy, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Direct all aspects of the Leadership Development team, including daily operations, team engagement, team structure, priorities, and performance management
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, team sizing, skill development, and training to build a capable and scalable team
- Promote a culture of collaboration, trust, and accountability within the facilitation team
Program Development & Management
- Align programs with Children's People Priorities as defined by the Chief People Officer and learning strategy in conjunction with the Sr. Director, Talent Development and Learning
- Identify opportunities and propose solutions for improving leadership and team performance
- Maintain high standards for all learning materials to ensure leaders and team members receive exceptional learning experiences
- Measure effectiveness of learning programs using evaluation data, feedback, and performance metrics, continuously refining programs
Strategic Partnerships & Innovation
- Identify, select, and implement leadership development tools including leadership assessments, vendor-designed curricula, and external solutions; manage relevant vendor relationships
- Work with leadership to ensure financial investments are sound and budgeted
- Stay current on industry trends and continuously improve knowledge, skills, and competencies in leadership and corporate learning
- Partner with Sr. Director on Measurement Strategy to select vendor partners and pilot new learning methods (personalized journeys, AI-enabled solutions, etc.)
Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Instructional Design team to ensure program design and delivery plans reflect learning standards
- Partner with the Talent Team to optimize learning resource availability following succession and enterprise talent reviews
- Provide resources at the point of need
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of leadership development experience and program implementation
- Minimum 5 years of expertise with leadership development curriculum
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, HR, or Business
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of people and program leadership experience
Preferred Education:
- Graduate or professional degree, or equivalent experience in Organizational Development/Organizational Behavior
Preferred Certifications:
- Certification in commonly used Learning Development tools (assessments, surveys, etc.)
- Leadership Facilitation certification (e.g., Franklin Covey, DDI, etc.)
