Job Summary
Develops, coordinates, and carries out marketing and communications for the University of Utah College of Health (COH). Performs a variety of marketing, communication, and project management tasks while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and carry out goal-based strategies and tactics. Utilizes traditional and digital publishing technologies to produce communications that implement project objectives. Ensures proper branding and adherence to system style. The marketing manager is a member of University of Utah Health’s Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team and serves the strategic communications and marketing needs of the COH, working closely with the dean. This is a hybrid role, requiring in-person meetings and maintaining a regular physical presence at the COH and U of U Health MarCom.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and carry out print and digital marketing communications plans based on College of Health (COH) dean’s priorities.
2. Supervise and collaborate with the COH webmaster, who is responsible for ongoing updates and continued improvement of college website.
3. Manage COH content strategy, employing electronic and traditional means to share stories, increase awareness and promote events to students, prospective students, faculty, and staff. Content includes an annual magazine, quarterly newsletter, blog articles, press releases, paid and organic campaigns, social media, print collateral, etc.
4. Monitor effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjust communication plans as necessary.
5. Market and promote new and existing programs and services.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams: COH Dean’s office, college departments, student affairs, admissions, the central marketing & communications (MarCom) team, and the advancement team.
7. Serve as a brand ambassador and liaison between COH and U of U Health MarCom.
8. Review COH public-facing content and materials for brand standard and style compliance.
9. Serve as a point of contact for media. Includes monitoring media and working with MarCom public affairs team on developing and pitching stories, arranging interviews, etc.
10. Balance conflicting interests in an environment of competing priorities.
11. Manage a communications budget and college-wide swag/merch program
12. Work comfortably under minimal supervision and be accountable for results.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
