Position Title: Manager of Career Services

Position Purpose:The Manager of Career Services leads job-placement activities for PVCC’s credit and non-credit students by serving as the primary point of contact for the region’s quality employers who offer the jobs and careers that lead to family-sustaining wages. As the college’s employer “concierge,” the Manager of Career Services will connect employers with the appropriate personnel throughout the college who can address the specific training and other needs they express. Through deep, sector-based engagement, the Director/manager of Career Services will understand the needs of local employers allowing PVCC to recruit, train and place students seeking quality careers. The Manager of Career Services will support enrollment efforts by publishing job tickets on the n2work.org platform, which is used by community partners to recruit students to PVCC by focusing on the goal of many students to secure quality employment in the region. The Manager of Career Services will lead career exploration activities and work with faculty and instructors across the college to develop work-based learning opportunities. The position will oversee a customer relationship management process to track engagement with employers across the college. The position advances the implementation of the college’s strategic plan and the VCCS’s Opportunity 2030, with a focus on community impact through economic mobility of students completing PVCC programs. The position requires substantial outreach and customer service skills and works directly with students, faculty, and staff across all college divisions.
This position reports to the Dean of Student Support & Community Partnerships but will also work closely with the administrators, faculty, and staff in Academic Affairs and Workforce Development.
Duties and Responsibilities:· Lead job-placement activities for PVCC’s credit and non-credit students.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for the region’s quality employers who offer the jobs and careers that lead to family-sustaining wages.
· Oversee a customer relationship management process for tracking college engagement with employers and ensure that they receive accurate and timely responses.
· Manage college-wide career services with a focus on creating authentic relationships with the region’s employers to create intentional pathways to available quality jobs, internships and apprenticeships for PVCC students, both credit and non-credit.
· Provide a clear point-of-contact at PVCC for the region’s employers and effectively connect to the appropriate person or program at PVCC who can address their needs.
· Develop career exploration opportunities for PVCC student/job-seekers.
· Promote student enrollment by publishing job tickets on the Network2Work platform (n2work.org) which are used to increase enrollment, especially for adult learners and other non-traditional students.
· Attend new student information sessions to answer questions about employment opportunities.
· Leverage the relationships built through working closely with employers to explore opportunities for internships and other work-based learning opportunities for PVCC student/job-seekers.
· Build sector-specific industry mentorships that connect student/job-seekers with mentor in the industry of their interest.
· Guide PVCC graduates to the “best fit” employer whose work aligns with the student/job-seeker’s interests, and vouch for our graduates with those employers once training has been completed and the student/job-seeker has applied for the job.

KSA's/Required Qualifications | · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
· Organizational skills.
· Demonstrated experience working with the employers, preferably in PVCC’s service region.
· Strong interpersonal skills to help engage employers and support students.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
· Familiarity with career exploration tools.
· A current driver’s license and the ability to provide your own transportation to cover assignments throughout the community college service region.
· Working knowledge of basic computer applications, software, and social media.

· Career services experience (higher education).
