MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Manager, Reconciliations (Team Amazon) in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.
Description:
Purpose of the Role:
This manager will oversee the Amazon team within the Accounts Receivable department, providing guidance and support to ensure effective operations and performance. The role is responsible for reconciling high-volume transactions including sales, chargebacks, and credit memos, and ensuring departmental goals are achieved. Strong analytical skills are essential to assess complex data, identify discrepancies, and provide resolution strategies. The manager ensures adherence to all credit, company, and financial policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities/tasks:
• Oversees reconciliation activities for high-volume sales transactions, chargebacks, and credit memos related to Amazon.
• Applies analytical skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies across customer accounts and financial systems.
• Provides direction to team members in executing accounts receivable functions including transaction matching, adjustments, and audit trail documentation.
• Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to ensure timely resolution of outstanding items in AR.
• Continually reviews reconciliation processes to identify efficiency gains and improve accuracy.
• Supports audit and reporting requirements with thorough documentation and data validation.
• Supervises the department staff by providing guidance and direction in reconciling transactions.
• Reviews reconciliations with department employees offering insight/suggestions and ensuring accuracy.
• Submits routine updates on Amazon to internal management team.
• Develops employees by suggesting programs for training and professional development, train and motivate employees for increased effectiveness.
• Completes all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion to include absenteeism, performance evaluations, and operating supplies.
• Reviews operating goals and standards on a daily basis and monitors achievement.
• Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.
• Works within operational budget. Assists in developing the budget when required.
• Conforms to all company policies and procedures (Employee Handbook) and complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Skills/experience required:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual must be able to interact well with people.

Computer skills to include Microsoft (Word, Excel and Access), Adobe, Google and general internet use. Use of calculator, photocopy machine, fax machine and scanner.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervising 3 - 7 people. Ensures that the department employees are carrying out policy and procedures to meet department goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
