Description

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking an innovative Training and Documentation Manager to lead a team of Instructional Designers, Instructors, and Technical Writers dedicated to our Flight Planning suite of products. This role drives operational execution—managing day-to-day authoring, instructor scheduling, deliverable tracking, and the integration of modern AI workflows—to deliver technical documentation and training programs to aviation customers, employees (Customer Success, Implementation, Support), and partners.

A key focus of this position is leveraging AI strategies and data-driven insights to maximize training impact, accelerating adoption rates (Time-to-Value/TVV), user engagement, and operational proficiency. This is a hybrid roll and can be located in our Austin TX  or Englewood CO office.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership, Innovation & AI Enablement
  • Direct, coach, and manage a dedicated team of Instructional Designers, Instructors, and Technical Writers, fostering continuous professional development.
  • Champion innovation by operationalizing practical AI-driven workflows (such as LLM-assisted drafting, automated editorial checks, and AI-accelerated learning asset creation) to increase team efficiency and content quality.
  • Leverage AI-driven tools, personalization, and analytics to optimize learning pathways, accelerate user comprehension, and directly enhance training outcomes.
  • Ensure team deliverables adhere to established structured authoring standards, technical style guides, instructional quality frameworks, and delivery best practices.
Documentation & Release Tracking
  • Manage the delivery pipeline for technical documentation (user manuals, release notes, integration guides, standard operating procedures) across the Flight Planning product lifecycle.
  • Manage project milestones and remove execution blockers to ensure documentation and learning assets achieve "Ready for Release" sign-off in lockstep with agile software release cadences.

Training Impact, Adoption & Performance Metrics
• Utilize AI analytics and performance tracking to measure and continuously improve key enablement metrics, demonstrating clear business impact:
Time-to-Value (TVV) & Adoption Rates: Shortening customer and employee time-to-competency on new Flight Planning features and workflows.
Training Effectiveness & Retention: Assessing learner competency, course completion rates, and post-training proficiency assessments.
Operational Impact: Measuring reductions in support ticket volume and faster issue resolution resulting from updated documentation and targeted training.
CSAT / Net Promoter Score (NPS): Monitoring learner satisfaction scores across classroom, virtual, and self-paced courses to continuously refine offerings.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Maintain regular alignment with Flight Planning Product Managers, Engineering, and User Experience (UXD) to track upcoming features, interface designs, system changes, and release timelines.
  • Partner closely with Customer Success, Professional Services/Implementation, and Support leadership to align training schedules, instructor capacity, and documentation handoffs with customer go-lives.
  • Collaborate with central content architecture and LMS platform leads to ensure smooth publishing pipelines through CCMS authoring workflows and digital learning systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • People Management: 3+ years of direct people management experience leading instructional designers, technical instructors, or technical writers in an enterprise software environment.
  • Delivery Experience: Proven track record managing concurrent training and documentation deliverables to customer, employee (Support, CS, Services), and partner audiences.
  • AI & Impact Innovation: Practical experience applying AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate content production and drive measurable training impact (e.g., boosting TVV, engagement, and learning efficiency).
  • Metrics & Impact Focus: Demonstrated experience establishing and tracking training ROI and operational metrics (Time-to-Value, adoption curves, CSAT, course completion, support volume impact).
  • Operational & Scheduling Acumen: Strong capability in capacity planning, instructor scheduling, and workload management in fast-paced, recurring release cycles.
  • Technical Environment: Familiarity with modern Learning Management Systems (LMS), virtual classroom platforms, and project management tools (Jira, Confluence).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with structured authoring architectures (DITA XML) and Component Content Management Systems (CCMS).
  • Aviation background (commercial, business, or military aviation).
  • Direct experience with Flight Planning Operations or operational flight control software.
  • Licensed Aircraft Dispatcher (FAA Dispatcher Certificate or international equivalent) or pilot credentials.
  • Experience in complex software environments with high-reliability or mission-critical workflows.
  • Pilot or Aviation enthusiast
