Job Summary
The division of Enrollment Management at the University of Utah is seeking a dynamic and experienced marketing manager to join a fast-paced, results-driven Marcomm team dedicated to creating and delivering an array of innovative and meaningful engagement opportunities for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
This position is responsible for executing enrollment management efforts, ensuring the fulfillment of marketing campaigns and projects on time and within budget as well as managing designated marketing team members. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this strategic role will develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social media channels.
This position is a primary lead on receiving and assigning incoming project requests from Enrollment Management and university partners and helps manage the production schedule for the Marcomm team. This position is a liaison and contact person for other EM departments and university partners, facilitating services, deliverables, and managing the client relationship. The marketing manager will also help vet and oversee external vendors and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute compelling communication plans that effectively target a variety of audiences with differentiated messaging across multiple channels.
  • Supervise and mentor assigned staff, including but not limited to, a graphic designer, demand generation specialist, and student workers.
  • Build effective, strong working relationships with employees, colleagues, management and vendors through trust, communication, and credibility.
  • Create and lead the social media strategy for the Office of Admissions.
  • Serve as one of the department’s primary project managers, overseeing marketing projects, deliverables, deadlines, and ensuring client satisfaction. Serve as administrator for the office’s project management software (Asana) and tools.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials for Enrollment Management departments, including the Office of Admissions, University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Office of Orientation and Transition, Early College Programs, and Office of the Registrar.
  • Help develop and oversee the execution of the paid digital advertising strategy.
  • Analyze marketing performance through key metrics and create comprehensive reports on campaign effectiveness. Make data-driven recommendations to improve engagement and conversion rates.
  • Serve as enrollment brand ambassador ensuring that all projects maintain consistent messaging, voice, and visuals. Work with central university marketing team to create alignment.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Manager, Marketing Communications Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

  • Demonstrable experience and expertise in project and time management. Ability to change directions as needed to ensure project success.
  • Experience working within a brand system and creative platform.
  • Experience launching and optimizing digital campaigns. Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to anticipate needs and plan for problems before they arise.
