The Marketing and Events Specialist is a professional position in the Education Abroad Office. The Marketing and Events Specialist performs a variety of duties in support of marketing, communications, and the recruitment of students to take part in education abroad opportunities. As a staff member in a high traffic, multi-function office this position also manages the Office’s web and social media presence, special functions and events, and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

  • Experience designing and facilitating trainings, workshops, and orientation sessions.
  • Advanced degree.

Outreach and Event Management: Creates and manages office-wide student recruitment plan(s). Gathers and maintains data related to the effectiveness of recruitment activities. Identifies new avenues for recruitment of students. Develops and manages targeted outreach plans for special programs, including exchange programs, instructor-led programs, and similar strategic priorities. Manages the Education Abroad Fair and coordinates the EAO’s participation in U101, New Student Orientation, and USC Admissions events. Coordinates and/or provides support for additional events throughout the year.

Social Media and Digital Marketing: Oversees the EAO’s engagement on all relevant social media platforms. Develops and implements a 12-month content calendar for social media. Monitors engagement metrics and makes adjustments accordingly. Acts as site manager for the EAO website and works directly with advising staff responsible for various content development. Identifies other avenues for digital engagement with students. Oversees the design of the EAO Annual Report. Leads the EAO’s graphic design efforts and supports other staff in their projects involving graphic design.
