core curriculum and implementation support offerings, and leveraging technology to offer
a best-in-class digital curriculum experience.

Overview of Role
Fishtank Learning is seeking two full-time Math Curriculum Writers to join the Math
Curriculum Team and help strengthen our upper elementary math curriculum. Fishtank
offers a complete 3-5 math curriculum and this role will focus on enhancing and expanding existing materials. Key priorities include but are not limited to strengthening facilitation guidance, adding supports that increase student access to Anchor Tasks, adding lesson Warm Ups, and integrating culturally responsive math teaching principles.

The Curriculum Writers will collaborate closely with the Senior Director for K-5 Math who
will also be contributing to the work. Together, the team will revise and refine the Grades
3-5 curriculum, ensuring coherence across the grade band, alignment with the broader K-8curriculum, and consistency with the Fishtank philosophy and style. In addition, the
Curriculum Writers will engage with the broader Math Team on topics relevant to the
ongoing development and improvement of the K-8 math curriculum.

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has experience writing elementary math curriculum and has teaching experience in the same grade band. They are comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with teammates to maintain alignment across the curriculum.

Strong candidates will have:
● Deep knowledge of the the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and
elementary content progressions
● Familiarity with researched-based pedagogical approaches to math curriculum and
instruction
● Strong attention to detail and the ability to think both strategically about unit design
and carefully about lesson-level decisions
● Clear communication skills and good judgement about when to collaborate and
when to move work forward independently.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Curriculum Writer
● Implement enhancements to upper elementary math curriculum including:
○ Writing facilitation guidance and implementation support for lesson Anchor
Tasks
○ Revising content as needed to align with updates to Fishtank philosophy and
style, and to reflect guiding principles of culturally responsive math teaching
○ Creating additional resources including Warm-Ups, center activities, and
spiral review

● Collaborate with Senior Director for Math to ensure consistency and alignment
across elementary grade band
● Share and respond to feedback, engaging in a fast-moving feedback and editing
cycle
● Effectively use project management tools to organize workflow, timelines, and track
and communicate progress
● Collaborate with other members of the Math Team to ensure alignment and
cohesion across K-8 math

Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
● Deep knowledge of Grades 3-5 mathematics, including the Common Core State
Standards for Mathematics and content progressions
● At least 2 years experience with writing math curriculum
● At least 4-5 years of elementary classroom teaching experience, with evidence of
improving student learning; experience with instructional leadership (e.g. grade
level chair, team lead) a plus
● Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
● Ability to work independently while maintaining periodic check-ins
● Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and move multiple aspects
of a complex project forward

● Proficiency with digital productivity and collaboration tools
● Familiarity with the Fishtank Learning Math Curriculum a plus

Compensation
This is a temporary, full-time position with a salary range of $75,000 - $90,000, paid
bi-monthly, based on experience and geographic location.
