Math Question Developer (4-month Contract)

Math Question Programmer (4-month Contract):
This position is a contract position and fully remote. We anticipate the project to be completed in 4 months, but may potentially run longer. 

Rate: $20-$28/hour

What you’ll do:
  • Use our in-house programming language to code questions into our online system where they will be seen online by tens of thousands of students and teachers.
  • Be thoughtful about the student experience and proactively alert the project manager about questions that don’t translate well into a digital platform. 
  • Maintain a consistent approach to answer acceptance while being mindful of how the question will be integrated into the instructors’ curricula.
  • Identify potential edge cases in answer acceptance and test for how well the question works.
  • Identify the Common Core State Standards that apply to each question. 

What you'll need:
Successful Question Programmers have a teacher’s mindset and an appreciation for how students learn. Question Programmers are detail-oriented, and care deeply about the student experience and ensuring that content and questions are mathematically accurate. 

We are looking for any combination of the following:
  • Experience with basic computer programming in any language (ideally JavaScript)
  • Familiarity with LaTeX
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Tutoring or teaching experience in mathematics is a plus
  • Experience with online mathematics homework software is a plus
  • Familiarity with Common Core curriculum and standards (preferred)
