Job Description  | General Description:
This position supports student success in math through in class and out of class support of MDE (Mathematics Direct Enrollment) courses; facilitation of workshops supporting success in MDE (Mathematics Direct Enrollment) and paired MTH (Mathematics) courses. This position will be responsible for the facilitation of preparatory workshops for math success and participates as a member of the math success team.

Duties and Tasks:Provide MDE students with embedded tutoring support in the classroom. Provide MDE students with tutoring support outside of the classroom. Assist students with mathematics and software used in classes. Participate in the development and facilitation of math preparedness workshops. Meet regularly with the campus math associate dean, math faculty, math support specialist lead and MDE faculty to determine support needs and adjustments. Suggest improvements to embedded support, out of class support, workshops, and other support. Provide support to students needing assistance with technology used in Math courses such as Excel, ALEKS, MyMathLab, as a complement to MDE support. Stay up to date on current math software used in MDE courses. Seek assistance from appropriate tech support when problems arise. Contact local tech support to upgrade local software as needed.
Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications  | KSAs: Ability to work well with students of diverse backgrounds and education levels Exceptional communication skills Good Organization skills Ability to adapt to changes as needed Knowledge of a wide range of math coursework taught in higher education Must have the ability to assist student in improving academic achievements by meeting with them as needed to clarify learning problems and work on study skills Must have some computer skills and be willing to learn unfamiliar applications Patience, ability to diffuse math anxiety and ability to explain math concepts in different ways to math students 
Minimum Work Experience: Experience with computer-based learning system. Experience working in a tutoring center in a higher education setting. Teaching and/or tutoring experience in higher education level Mathematics or in a Math Lab setting.
