Our team is currently seeking candidates that would be interested in substituting and open to accepting a class if one should open up. See below for a list of classes that we are seeking availability for throughout the 2026â2027 Academic Year | Aug. 31, 2026 â Jun. 7, 2027
Honors Math 1: Students develop their number sense and begin to learn about place value. They are introduced to addition and subtraction and are encouraged to approach numerical problems in clever ways. Students play games, solve puzzles, manipulate shapes, and measure physical objects to build foundational understanding of mathematical concepts.
Honors Math 2: Students expand their understanding of the number system and place value, develop fluency in addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers, and explore the properties of special types of numbers such as odds and evens. Each lesson includes challenging word problems and engaging puzzles that guide students toward a deep mathematical foundation.
Honors Math 3: Students are introduced to fractions, expanding their understanding of numbers. They develop fluency with multiplication and division and explore two-dimensional shapes, estimation, and the use of variables. Regular word problems teach students how to translate between writing and mathematical symbols, and puzzles help students practice strategic thinking.
Honors Math 4: Students master operations with fractions and multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers. They explore a wide variety of topics, including properties of two-dimensional shapes, symmetry, logic, factors, and probability. Students expand their understanding of numbers to include decimals and negative integers, and they learn to create and use mathematical models via challenging word problems.
Honors Math 5: Students master the key topics they'll need to succeed in AoPS Prealgebra and other middle school math courses. Students complete their study of the arithmetic of fractions, decimals, and negative integers. They are also introduced to topics in geometry, number theory, statistics, and algebra. Thought-provoking word problems and puzzles reinforce critical problem solving skills, mathematical modeling, and deductive reasoning.
Honors Math 6 - Prealgebra: Students formalize the rules of arithmetic learned in elementary school to help them build a rigorous foundation for algebra. They explore a wide range of topics, including number theory, algebra, geometry, counting, statistics, and probability. Students learn advanced problem solving techniques by tackling compelling problems, including many drawn from major national math contests such as MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8.
Honors Math 7 - Intro to Algebra: Students engage with mathematical expressions from an algebraic and geometric perspective. They solve linear and quadratic equations, represent expressions in the Cartesian plane, and develop a deep understanding of functions. Students are also introduced to the rich field of complex numbers. They tackle challenging word problems and advanced problems from contests such as MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, and AMC 10.
Honors Math 8 - Intro to Geometry: Students dive into geometry and develop spatial reasoning skills. They learn to dissect geometrical configurations, learn formal proof techniques, and tackle geometry problems on the Cartesian plane. Students explore trigonometry, building a foundation for precalculus. The challenging problems in this course include real questions from MATHCOUNTS, AMC 10, AMC 12, and other prestigious competitions.
Scholars Math 9 - Intermediate Algebra: Students continue their study of algebraic functions and applications, expanding on key Algebra 1 concepts. Students explore the rich field of polynomials and build foundations for calculus through the study of sequences and series. They navigate optimization problems with a study of inequalities and practice with important algebraic forms and functions, solving challenging problems from contests such as AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME, and the HMMT.
Scholars Math 10 - Precalculus: Students explore trigonometry, complex numbers, and two- and three-dimensional vector spaces with emphasis on how these areas of mathematics are related. This helps build a solid foundation for advanced courses like calculus, linear algebra, and physics. Students also tackle challenging problems from contests like the AMC 12, AIME, and HMMT. Our curriculum goes beyond a standard precalculus class and focuses on skills applicable to AP courses and professional STEM fields.
Scholars Math 11 - Calculus: AoPS Calculus is certified by the College Board as an AP® Calculus BC course. Students master single-variable calculus with a rigorous focus on operations and theory. They build a strong foundation for advanced math and success in STEM fields like physics, statistics, and engineering.
