WHAT WE SEEK
Our Professional Learning team is looking for a highly motivated, passionate educator to join our incredible team of professional learning experts who facilitate the highest-quality professional learning experiences within the Hillsborough County Public Schools.
As a Mathematics Specialist you will be dedicated, full-time, to Hillsborough County Public Schools from the first day of school until the last. You will work directly with classroom teachers across the district to foster a growth mindset, build capacity, deepen mathematical understanding of standards/content, and promote the effective use of district-selected resources. You will deliver our full suite of mathematics teacher-focused professional learning offerings with a singular focus of developing each educator's teaching practice in order to improve learning in mathematics for all students throughout the school year.
As a member of the Professional Learning team, the Mathematics Specialist will report to the Director of Professional Learning in their region. You will work with teachers in schools and classrooms four days per week with one office day to plan, prepare, organize data, and provide feedback/reports to teachers and leaders.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Delivering High-Quality Professional Learning
- Building deep relationships with teachers and leaders in the district and using those partnerships to foster best practices and ensure teacher professional growth
- Consistently and effectively delivering job-embedded coaching and support to improve the teaching and learning process in mathematics across the district. Some examples may include:
- Formal Coaching Cycles
- Demonstration Lesson Cycles
- Lesson Planning
- Co-Teaching
- PLC Facilitation
- Documenting classroom visits through Media-X and provide feedback for individual teachers regularly
- Delivering engaging professional learning workshops; including, but not limited to; unit/module overviews, doing the math sessions, custom professional learning sessions, etc.
- Strategically setting goals at the beginning of the partnership, collecting data as you support teachers and leaders, and using that data to track on the partnership goals throughout the mathematics implementation
Other Fun Work
- Developing correlations, custom curriculum, rubrics, and/or other documents to support specific district needs
- Developing and using collaborative relationships within and across departments in order to influence product development, contribute to marketing and thought leadership efforts, etc. as a representation of our teachers and leaders
- Performing other duties as assigned or apparent

NOTE: This job requires residency within a reasonable driving distance from the district location.
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BACKPACK
- Bachelors degree in Education (preferred)
- 3+ years of mathematics classroom teaching experience
- A basic understanding of school and district infrastructure including technology environments
- Exceptional time management skills including detailed calendar management, effective goal setting, efficiency in task prioritization, and consistently meets deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment maintaining a positive attitude in stressful situations
- Ability to remain solution-minded and detail-oriented; always looking for ways to improve efficiency, communication as well as the team and/or customer experience
- Ability to follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
