Description

Overview:
  • Plans, organizes, controls, develops and directs the design, development, implementation and maintenance of employee ed, performance
  • improv, and communications, supporting the operations in ensuring a high level of service. Provides leadership and direction by promoting
  • the people-service-profit philosophy, as well as encouraging the growth and development of team members and indirect reports. Manages
  • all other necessary activities in providing optimum services to customers.
  • Responsible for selecting, training and developing a staff of 1 to 20 direct reports, with an annual direct budget associated with staff.
  • Responsible for training and communication for a staff of indirect reports throughout the corporation globally. Implements effective business and strategic training and communication to ensure the operations provide quality services to customers.
  • Ensures cost effectiveness of department operations through the established control of equipment, supplies, overtime, and a timely/ quality output to avoid the operations' experiencing monetary penalties and/or customer dissatisfaction.
  • Maintains contact with internal and external customers regarding conditions affecting the appropriate service levels of the corporation.
  • Provides support for and participates in the design, development, implementation, and follow-up of training and performance-improvement projects related to operations and professional development of staff.
  • Leads/serves as l&d representative on corporate and enterprise projects. Participates in business planning and strategy discussion; makes decisions regarding strategies and deliverables on department business plan.
  • Accountable for completing assigned business plan initiatives.
  • Partners with business units to clarify and prioritize l&d projects; creates an awareness of client business needs and initiatives with managers and above cross disciplines.
  • Maintains all required reports and paperwork, payroll, vacation schedules, performance reviews, mobs, and personnel records through established paperwork guidelines.
  • Enforces company policy and procedures to ensure compliance with customs and related laws and regulations. Identifies training requirements and trains, coaches, and counsels team members for professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent, preferably in business, behavioral science or education.
  • Five (5) years experience in related industry, preferably including operations training.
  • The following licenses or certifications preferred: chb, ccs, imdg, iata, ocean forwarder cert, ces and pmp.
  • Strong basic management, human relations, and communications skills required.
