Role Overview
The Learning Experience Design Manager – Media leads a team of Learning Experience Designers (LXDs) who specialize in creating compelling, media-rich learning experiences that support UKG’s product lines and internal initiatives. This leader drives the creative vision for product learning videos, animation, web, and visual design that supports both customer and internal education initiatives.
The role balances creative direction with operational excellence, ensuring that every asset we produce is human-centered, accessible, brand-aligned, and strategically tied to business outcomes. The manager fosters an environment where innovation thrives, storytelling is purposeful, and media elevates learning impact at scale.
Additionally, this leader oversees a dynamic post-production service that transforms webinars, training sessions, and SME-created content into high-quality, on-demand learning assets that reach global audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of LXDs specializing in video, animation, web, and graphic design, ensuring creative excellence and design consistency across all media learning solutions.
Set and communicate the creative vision for media learning experiences that bring complex ideas to life through storytelling, motion, and interaction.
Partner with business leaders and SMEs to align learning media strategies with organizational goals and performance outcomes.
Oversee the design lifecycle—from needs analysis and conceptualization to development, implementation, and evaluation.
Manage and optimize the post-production operation that processes training recordings, webinars, and SME-generated videos for reuse and distribution.
Champion accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring all media and web-based learning aligns with UKG’s brand, learning, and accessibility standards.
Drive innovation in media tools and production processes, exploring new technologies, workflows, and delivery methods for scalable learning.
Mentor, coach, and develop design talent through feedback, career guidance, and skill-building opportunities.
Manage relationships with design and media tool vendors to ensure the team has the right platforms, technologies, and resources to create high-quality learning media.
Contribute to the broader learning strategy, representing the voice of media design and visual storytelling.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of advanced proficiency with media and learning tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, Articulate, Brightcove, and content management systems).
- 8+ years of proven experience in learning experience or instructional design with a strong focus on media and visual storytelling
- 3+ years demonstrating success leading creative or design teams, ideally within a learning organization.
- 5+ years of expertise in adult learning theory, UX principles, and brand and accessibility standards.
Preferred Experience:
- Strong creative direction, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to analyze learning needs and recommend effective, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with an eye for both narrative and detail.

The pay range for this position is $90,900.00 to $130,700.00, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
