Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

KIPP Indy College Prep Middle School is seeking an Enrichment Teacher to provide high-quality, engaging instruction for middle school students.  

Enrichment teachers at KIPP Indy College Prep Middle School are responsible for delivering rigorous, student-centered instruction that promotes strong academic outcomes, skill development, and student engagement in one of the following areas: art, physical education, music, etc. Teachers use data and evidence of student learning to inform instruction and adjust their practice to meet the needs of all learners. Enrichment teachers create safe, joyful, and structured learning environments that encourage creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and student ownership. They build strong relationships with students and families, maintain high expectations, and actively engage in coaching, feedback, and professional development to continuously strengthen their instructional practice. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous, standards-aligned enrichment instruction for middle school students within the assigned content area. 
  • Develop lessons and learning experiences that deepen students’ content knowledge and skills while promoting creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and student ownership. 
  • Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate supports and extensions to ensure students with varying learning needs can successfully engage in rigorous learning. 
  • Establish clear learning objectives and use checks for understanding, student work, assessments, and other available data to monitor progress and adjust instruction. 
  • Create a safe, joyful, structured learning environment that maintains high expectations for student engagement, behavior, participation, and quality of work. 
  • Implement effective classroom management practices and consistently reinforce school-wide expectations while supporting students in developing independence and personal responsibility. 
  • Build strong relationships with students and families and communicate proactively regarding student progress, successes, and areas for growth. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional leaders, and other enrichment staff to support student learning and contribute to a cohesive middle school instructional program. 
  • Provide students with meaningful opportunities to apply and demonstrate their learning through projects, performances, exhibitions, competitions, presentations, or other authentic experiences, as appropriate to the content area. 
  • Maintain organized instructional materials, equipment, supplies, and learning spaces appropriate to the assigned enrichment content area. 
  • Participate in school-wide events and enrichment-related activities that contribute to student engagement and the broader school community. 
  • Participate actively in ongoing coaching, classroom observations, feedback cycles, collaborative planning, team learning, and required professional development; consistently implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice and student outcomes. 

EXPECTATIONS
 

  • Arrive at school by 8:10 a.m. 
  • Attend professional development, including summer onboarding. 
  • Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate to the assigned grade level and/or elective area, or in the process of obtaining appropriate Indiana licensure through reciprocity or another approved pathway (required). 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, the assigned content area, or a related field (required). 
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned enrichment content area and the ability to translate that knowledge into engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction (required). 
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching or relevant instructional experience, preferably at the middle school level (preferred). 
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging instruction that promotes student participation, skill development, and application of learning (preferred).

  • Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required).

Additional Information

Licensed teacher starting at $50,000
