Network Analyst Full Description
Hiring Department: ET - Infrastructure
Location: Austin, TX. Flexible work arrangements are available, including infrequent remote work (<10%). Preference given to candidates in the greater Austin area.
Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40. Fixed-term position expected to continue until August 31, 2029.
Salary Range: $55,488.00+, depending on qualifications
Purpose: Supports on-site network communications requirements across the University of Texas at Austin environment.
Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, plans, designs, and conducts wireless surveys and designs, and operates and maintains wireless network components and configurations for all UT Austin students, faculty, staff, and affiliates
- Under supervision, maintains network asset information, equipment sparing process, and lab organization
- Provides semi-skilled field support to install, troubleshoot, and maintain the university’s network and voice systems, delivering requested improvements for campus units
- Provides basic support for standard network design, troubleshooting, and after-hours event support, including driving university-owned vehicles to job sites
- Maintains relationships with ET and unit representatives to address immediate needs, troubleshoot network and telecom systems, and maintain university inventory items
- Provides feedback and identifies problems with organizational evaluation of new network technologies, proof-of-concept projects, and configuration automation
- Raises visibility of issues to network engineers regarding automation processes, fault detection, standardized operations, and life cycle management
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. citizen, resident, or officially recognized asylee; subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Associate degree and basic network certifications (CCT, CCNA), or equivalent work experience
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, and LAN switching)
- 1+ years of experience with network operations or desktop support
- Must hold a Class "C" operator’s driver’s license and provide a current three-year driving record
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with medium-to-large enterprise network operations
- Experience with Cisco Systems switches and routers (IOS, IOS-XE)
- Experience with RF survey tools
- Experience with network testing tools
- Higher education work experience
