Job Description Summary  | Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is currently accepting applications for an Operating System/Network Analyst, Competency Level 2 to work in the Information Technology Department.

The Operating System/Network Analyst 2 supports Eastern Oregon University’s technology infrastructure through the administration, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise systems, servers, cloud services, and network resources that support academic, administrative, and student success operations. This position provides technical expertise in systems administration, cybersecurity practices, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and enterprise technology services to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations across the university.

Working collaboratively within the Information Technology Services team and with campus stakeholders, the incumbent analyzes and resolves complex technical issues, supports strategic technology initiatives, and contributes to the continuous improvement of enterprise systems and user services. The position also assists with infrastructure planning, system monitoring, automation, documentation, and implementation of technology solutions that align with EOU’s mission and operational needs.

Responsibilities  | Systems Administration & Infrastructure Support Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise operating systems, servers, storage environments, and related infrastructure. Install, configure, test, and tune operating systems and associated software for optimal performance and reliability. Support cloud and on-premises environments, including virtualization and enterprise cloud platforms. Implement system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes to improve operational efficiency and security. Monitor system availability, performance, and capacity; recommend and implement improvements as needed.  Network & Cloud Services Support network infrastructure and enterprise communication systems, including voice, data, and messaging services. Assist with planning, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of networked systems and cloud-based services. Coordinate infrastructure and service requests with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with organizational goals and best practices. Security, Data Integrity & Compliance Maintain system security standards, backup procedures, disaster recovery processes, and access controls. Monitor systems for vulnerabilities, performance issues, and unauthorized access attempts. Assist with implementing cybersecurity practices and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. Support data integrity, portability, and privacy initiatives across enterprise systems. Technical Support & Collaboration Provide advanced technical support and consultation to users, departments, and IT staff. Analyze and resolve complex systems and application issues. Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and training materials. Participate in project planning, implementation, and cross-functional technology initiatives. Promote inclusive, customer-focused service and collaborative problem solving. Operational Excellence Utilize automation, monitoring, and management tools to improve operational efficiency. Assist with vendor coordination, billing systems, asset management, and service optimization activities. Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours support as required.
Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, Telecommunications or a related technical field, or equivalent technical training and/or experience. Two years of demonstrated experience working with network, server, and storage theory and principles. Must be able to coordinate, research and design hardware and software upgrades and maintenance. Demonstrated experience in operating systems analysis and administration. Demonstrated experience with network planning and implementation, analysis and management, and administrative support. Extensive knowledge of Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems and associated computer repair is required.

Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment. Preferred Qualifications  | Previous experience and Knowledge of Banner SIS and SSB, Navigate, Slate and Degreeworks. Problem solving in context of Banner software, productivity and user support. Prior Banner by Ellucian and/or Salesforce programming experience. Salesforce Certified Administrator certificate Groovy with Grails certificate Java certificate
