Operations Coordinator Full Description

Position Summary
  • Supports daily operations at the MSU Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center, to ensure the teaching, research, and outreach missions are accomplished.
  • Creation and maintenance of work schedules for all employees (includes working around student course schedules, course load, university holidays and breaks).
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and Directions and Operating Guidelines.
  • Assist with technical support in the maintenance of records and data bases utilized in the daily operations of the Center.
  • Assist in the planning, posting, interviewing, and hiring all employee types
  • Onboard new employees making sure they can utilize the timeclock, access all necessary doors, and perform and track site-specific and annual trainings
  • Oversee the development and implementation of employee training programs.
  • Maintain monthly financial records for the Center
  • Manage the procurement and organization of all supplies and pharmaceuticals needed at the Center
  • Serve as receptionist to new dairy facility - greet visitors and tour groups and conduct tours as needed
  • Serve as liaison for ANS – coordinating needs for classroom and lab space
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate’s degree in a business-related field such as Accounting or Finance, Business Administration or Human Resources; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to onboarding, training, assisting with daily operations, Microsoft Office, and working with students in a University setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of animal agriculture, including 2-4 years in livestock management or herdsperson. Excellent communication skills and experience in following protocols and familiarity with compliance and regulatory procedures pertaining to livestock operations. Experience in training labor and coordination of student training, execution and/or development of pro-active healthcare and biosecurity programs. Experience with electronic record keeping systems for farms (financial, regulatory, milk production, and animal health).
