JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State New Kensington is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic Student Affairs team. The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support to ensure the smooth operation of departmental initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys multitasking, and values collaboration.
Job Duties
- Coordinate and schedule meetings for Student Affairs staff and campus partners.
- Manage departmental communication channels, including discussion listservs and social media updates.
- Handle telephone inquiries and manage incoming/outgoing mail correspondence.
- Process purchases and track budget items to ensure fiscal accountability.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for budget tracking and reporting.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Zoom.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- A teachable spirit and willingness to learn new systems and platforms.
- Prior administrative or higher education experience preferred, but not required.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
