Part Time Staff Counselor Full Description

Overview of Part Time Staff Counselor
This Part Time Staff Counselor position is a part time 11-month (academic year) generalist position housed in the Purdue University Northwest Counseling Center with the month of June off. The position will work on our Hammond campus and approximately 19 hours/week. Benefits do not apply. 

The Staff Counselor will be responsible for providing services to students and the University community by offering individual and group psychological counseling, diagnostic assessment, psychological consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention.

The Counselor is skilled in fostering the academic progress and development of University students through a variety of evidence-based interventions. They will participate in the Center's treatment team, as well as the group supervision team and other duties as assigned. Maintains timely and thorough client contact documentation compliant with Center policies and procedures, FERPA and HIPAA informed and knowledge of applicable state laws will be necessary.

Pay Range:  $24.50- $33.50
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and licensure
Both meeting and note time will be compensated at the same rate as clinical hours 
 
Education of Part Time Staff Counselor
  • Completed Masters or Doctoral degree in psychology or related clinical field from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program is mandatory
Experience of Part Time Staff Counselor
  • This position is open to both experienced and early career clinicians (licensure within 18-24 months).
  • A clinician licensed/license-eligible as a LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Clinician) or HSPP (Health Service Provider Psychology) to practice psychology in the State of Indiana is preferred.

Desirable Qualification
  • Previous training and experience in the areas of substance use/ misuse and trauma.
  • Previous training and experience in a college or university counseling center is highly desirable.
